The South African professional services provider: an endangered species

If you are a resident of South Africa, in the IT, auditing or legal industry and you're not experiencing the beginnings of panic at present, you're clearly not reading the news. Professionals who provide services on a time and materials basis' livelihoods are being threatened.

The true power behind the ANC regime, the odious and unholy alliance of the communists and trades union, have succeeded in convincing the government to ban labour brokers. Although one wouldn't say so, judging by its extremely arrogant and militant rhetoric, Cosatu is actually an organization in decline. Its membership is falling. Of course Cosatu does not like labour brokers, because they prevent labourers becoming unionised and therefore contribute to its incipient decline.

The banning of labour brokers will have a profound effect on the IT industry in South Africa. Many organizations cannot afford to keep expensive IT personnel on their payroll, especially if they require ad-hoc and relatively short-term IT projects. They would typically then approach an outsourcing company such as Dimension Data or Business Connection (BCX) to provide them with contract IT skills. This will however become illegal in terms of the proposed new legislation.

The impact on the IT industry will be severe. Companies like Paracon and Business Connection will have to either scale down radically or shut up shop altogether. They will no longer be able to provide contract IT workers to for example the Receiver of Revenue like Paracon does at present. In all probability, departments and organizations requiring IT skills will need to look offshore, for example at Indian companies. The Receiver of Revenue will have to farm out its IT requirements to for example Indian companies like Tata or Wipro.

Although Wipro and Tata will be happy to take on South African IT business, the picture is much less rosy for tens of thousands of South African IT workers presently working for companies like Paracon, who will necessarily have to find other employment. It is a safe bet that many of these would emigrate. IT professionals are mobile individuals, who will find work overseas, thereby exacerbating the brain drain. Not only the employees of the likes of Paracon but also others, to whom permanent employment with one employer seems like an unchallenging option, will look for greener pastures.

Not only would this exacerbate the brain drain, but it would also lose the tax revenue these individuals generate. How many recipients of child grants and other social benefits are being funded by each IT professional's personal income, fuel and sales taxes? If their work was done in Calcutta or Mumbai, this tax income would be lost and the profits would revert to India.

In so doing, Cosatu is causing immense harm to not only South Africa's skills pool, but also to the poor in South Africa. This argument is however unlikely to make any impact whatsoever on the greedy and malicious trades union, whose primary mission is to enrich themselves.

We are witnessing yet another example of the continuing destruction of the South African economy by the Cosatu parasites.

If you don't want your day spoiled by right-wing lies and propaganda, for heaven's sake and your own safety don't read this article that clasts the saint and icon Mandela.

Rather read St Mandela's wonderfully uplifting tract "How to be a good communist" here. (Please just ignore the introductory section in which a horrible racist dares to question The Great Man's friendship with the likes of other fine examples of democrats like Fidel Castro.)

The whole trial and jail sentence was also just so, you know, UNFAIR. Below is the list of unreasonable charges laid against St Mandela and his good-natured and harmless friends during the Rivonia Treason Trial by the previous racist regime. As you can see, they were clearly only gathering supplies for a children's party - the 210,000 hand grenades were surely only intended as a fireworks show. Nobody except a real racist would think otherwise.

• One count under the South African Suppression of Communism Act No. 44 of 1950, charging that the accused committed acts calculated to further the achievement of the objective of communism;
• One count of contravening the South African Criminal Law Act (1953), which prohibits any person from soliciting or receiving any money or articles for the purpose of achieving organized defiance of laws and
country; and
• Two counts of sabotage, committing or aiding or procuring the commission of the following acts:

1) The further recruitment of persons for instruction and training, both within and outside the Republic of South Africa, in:
(a) the preparation, manufacture and use of explosives—for the purpose of committing acts of violence and destruction in the aforesaid Republic, (the preparation and manufacture of explo- sives, according to evidence submitted, included 210,000 hand grenades, 48,000 anti-personnel mines, 1,500 time devices, 144 tons of ammonium nitrate, 21.6 tons of aluminum powder and a ton of black powder);
(b) the art of warfare, including guerrilla warfare, and military training generally for the purpose in the aforesaid Republic;
(ii) Further acts of violence and destruction, (this includes 193 counts of terrorism committed between 1961 and 1963);
(iii) Acts of guerrilla warfare in the aforesaid Republic;
(iv) Acts of assistance to military units of foreign countries when involving the aforesaid Republic;
(v) Acts of participation in a violent revolution in the aforesaid Republic, whereby the accused, injured, damaged, destroyed, rendered useless or unserviceable, put out of action, obstructed, with or endangered:
• (a) the health or safety of the public;
• (b) the maintenance of law and order;
• (c) the supply and distribution of light, power or fuel;
• (d) postal, telephone or telegraph installations;
• (e) the free movement of traffic on land; and
• (f) the property, movable or immovable, of other persons or of the state.

The real St. Mandela

Many newspapers are carrying front-page articles about St. Mandela's 91st birthday tomorrow. Instead of the fawning hagiographies, let's rather consider the real "achievements" of St. Mandela.

1. Mandela was so "oppressed" that he went to university became a lawyer. He was allowed to practice law with his partner, Oliver Tambo. This strangely happened in apartheid South Africa in 1953, in which it is routinely alleged blacks were denied proper education.

2. During the Rivonia trial Mandela was convicted of plotting to overthrow the previous government by means of military action. Had the plan succeeded, thousands of "freedom fighters" would have sown terror and mayhem in South Africa. Mandela was therefore far from an innocent pacifist and his jail sentence was nothing if not fully justified. It remains a mystery why Percy Yutar, the prosecutor, did not call for the death sentence, which would also have been justified given Mandela's treasonous intentions.

3. In 1961 he was one of the founders of Mkhonto we Sizwe - the "pricks (sorry "spears") of the nation", a murderous bunch of cowardly terrorist thugs, known mainly for their prowess at mowing down innocent civilians. As a military force, Mkhonto was however a complete joke, in spite of the so-called "Freedom Park's" memorial to them. Mkhonto failed to "liberate" one square centimeter of South African territory. Instead, nests of this infestation were routinely exterminated by the former SA Defence Force.

4. Mandela admits in his book The Long Walk To Freedom that he personally approved the Church Street bombing, in which 11 people died and more than 200 were injured. Most of them were innocent civilians.

5. He remained in jail because he refused to renounce violence. The previous government did offer to release him provided he renounced violence. Hardly Mother Theresa stuff.

6. After he came to power, his regime wasted no time in befriending rogue states like Libya and Cuba and imposing the state racism aimed at whites known as affirmative action and black economic empowerment.

Like Mohammad Atta and Carlos the Jackal, this person is no hero, no saint and definitely not worthy of our admiration.

The strange cult of the anti-hero

There have been many heroes throughout history; those whose unselfish and noble deeds have been an inspiration to others.

One example of a true hero was Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, a Roman policitian. Cincinnatus was called upon to act as dictator in order to defeat an enemy, the Aequians. As soon as he succeeded in doing so, he resigned his from a position of absolute authority and returned to a simple life as a farmer.

It's hard to imagine any modern day politician doing likewise.

Many of the so-called heroes of the present day are clearly not in the same mould as Cincinnatus. We are rather faced with the cult of the worship of the anti-hero. The most recent example of the worship of an anti-hero was the unfounded hysteria accompanying the death of the suspected paedophile Michael Jackson.

Let's take another example of a so-called American hero, one who even has a public holiday in his honour. This so-called hero was not only someone who plagiarised his academic work, but also an adulterer and a womaniser. The FBI recorded him shouting: "I'm fucking for God!" while philandering. The night before he died, he cheated on his wife with not one but two different women.

Hardly the stuff heroes are made of, wouldn't you say, especially considering he was supposedly a man of God? The anti-hero I'm referring to above is Martin Luther King, somebody who is routinely exalted as some kind of role model. We're really scraping the bottom of the barrel if Dr King is seen as a hero to some.

South Africa has its own crop of anti-heroes. Many of them are so-called Struggle heroes or associated with the ANC. The sickening spectacle of the anti-hero and fraudster Tony Yengeni being escorted to prison to serve time for corruption will forever be a mark of shame on the odious ANC regime.

Other ANC anti-heroes abound. Winnie Mandela, a child murderer and convicted fraudster, is known as the "Mother of the Nation." Aboobaker Ismael, the cowardly murderer who planned the Church Street bombing that killed innocent civilians, was rewarded for his "heroism" with a senior position at the Reserve Bank.

Perhaps the most laughable example of the cult of the anti-hero is however the so-called "Chief Tshwane." Chief Tshwane (sic) was ostensibly a tribal chief in the area that is now called the city of Pretoria. According to the ANC city council, Tshwane (sic) "established" the "City of Tshwane" (sic.)

There is one slight problem with this fairy tale. There is no evidence that "Chief Tshwane" (sic) ever existed. There is speculation that the name is really derived from the local vernacular term for monkey "tshwene." The river that flows through Pretoria is known as the Apies river (Afrikaans for "monkey") due to the large number of simians that populated its banks.

Furthermore, the modern-day city of Pretoria was in reality founded by the Voortrekker leader Andries Pretorius. There was certainly no bustling metropolis when Pretorius arrived on the site that is now Pretoria.

One of these actually existed and founded Pretoria. The other is a hero to the ANC regime.

The ANC regime, however, in its desperation to find somebody, anybody, to worship as a hero, did not let the facts (or lack thereof) stand in their way. It went to the ridiculous extreme of inventing a fictitious character and even built a statue to honour "Chief Tshwane" (sic), the so-called founder of Pretoria.

This sounds like Monty Python, but it's regrettably true. Can you imagine how bare your cupboard must be of real heroes that you have to go to the extreme of inventing one?

Perhaps we shouldn't sneer at those who view Martin Luther King, Michael Jackson, Winnie Mandela and even "Chief Tshwane" (sic) as heroes. It must be very depressing not having any real heroes to call your own.

You will be known by your friends, even in death

The funeral of the so-called icon and full-time pedophile, Michael Jackson, is being led by the so-called reverend Al Sharpton, the source of the quotations above.

Isn't it ironic how the anti-hero Sharpton is leading the anti-hero Jackson's funeral service? But, then, everything is fine, seeing that both are / were of the correct skin colour (the deceased was born with the correct skin colour and spent his entire life trying to bleach it) and therefore by definition not capable of doing any wrong.

Kind of reminds one of the anti-hero Jeremiah Wright, somebody also associated with another famous personality.

What is the point of South Africa's Defence Force?

Most if not all countries have a defence force. Some, like the current United States armed forces, see action on a daily basis. Others, like the Swiss guards in the world's smallest country, the Vatican, have largely ceremonial duties.

South Africa had a very professional defence force prior to 1994. In spite of sanctions aimed at the previous government, it was the most formidable fighting force on the African continent that successfully fought the Cubans in Angola, in spite of the ANC regime's laughable propaganda to the contrary.

It was especially effective in terms of pest control, eradicating infestations of so-called ANC "freedom fighters" (in reality a criminal rabble whose military prowess was limited to killing innocent civilians in cowardly bomb attacks) in neighbouring countries.

That was then, before the ANC regime "transformed" the armed forces.

Transformation in South African terms has a very clear and distinct meaning. In practice, it means exorcising any competent white individuals on an Afro-racist basis and replacing them with useless political cronies. One cannot however take the criminal rabble that constituted the so-called "liberation movement's army" (sic) and expect these individuals to miraculously transform themselves into a professional defence force capable of managing and effectively using the billions of rands' worth of equipment procured during the utterly corrupt arms deal.

The result was both predictable and sad. South Africa's forces, the SANDF, are staffed by ageing soldiers. The younger members of the forces are riddled with HIV and often in no condition to fight. The older members should not be front line soldiers. As the opposition Democratic Alliance's shadow minister of defence puts it: "We have soldiers in barracks, not in the field; we have ships alongside, not at sea; and we have aircraft in hangers, not in the air. We have an army that is overstretched; a navy which is under stretched; and an air force with nothing to stretch."

The obvious question is not why the SANDF is in the state it is in we all know that the twin evils transformation and the utter incompetence of the ANC regime are at fault. The question is rather: why do we have a defence force at all? Against whom do they "defend" us (sic)?

One of the main tasks of a defence force is to defend the sovereignty of a nation. In other words, the SANDF is there to keep South Africa safe from foreign threats. South Africa is however no longer sovereign. It has in reality been invaded by millions of illegal aliens, overrun by a veritable army of foreigners.

So much so that, as a proportion of its population, South Africa is a world leader in terms of its percentage of illegal aliens. Out of the 50-60 million people within the non-existent borders of the country, there are at least 10-15 million illegals. Between one in five and one in four people walking the streets of South Africa are part of the army of invaders that has already overrun South Africa.

The army is neither capable of nor interested in any semblance of border control. Enforcing South Africa's territorial integrity would, in any event, contradict the ANC regime's apparent policy of radical pan-Africanism, which gives free passage to any illegal alien wishing to enter South Africa. Witness the scrapping of visa requirements for Zimbabweans.

Seeing that South Africa has effectively already been invaded by a horde of foreigners, what about fighting a rearguard action within the borders of the country? After all, South Africa is the world champion not only at rugby football but also at violent crimes such as rape and murder. These illegals are often implicated in the illegal activities.

This also too much to expect from the transformed SANDF however. There are a few soldiers thousands of kilometres away in Burundi but none protecting the South African populace against the millions of invaders on own soil.

I ask again: what is the point of spending billions of rands on an utterly useless defence force, when the foreign invaders have already won the war against South Africa?

South Africa's own SAT

Our dear (in the sense that Kim Jong-Il is North Korea’s Dear Leader) minister of education, comrade Blade Nzimande, wants to institute a university entrance exam for those who fail to get university exemption in matric.

According to comrade Nzimande, it is unacceptable that “only” 18% of all matriculants gain exemption. According to him, 18% is “too low.” Excuse me comrade, but of these 18% that do reach university, why do almost half still fail their first year? This was also the case with my all-white classmates when I was at university during the apartheid years. Actually, comrade, the opposite is true: matric is and has always been too easy. Too many people that should not be there, still go to university and waste their time and their parents' money in the process.

However, in principle, something like the American Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is not a bad idea. The SAT is an entrance exam to get into college or university. If people do indeed have the potential to excel at university but are being constrained by a poor school environment, such a test would introduce a measure of fairness into the system. What it would also do, is to lay to rest the myth that apartheid / Bantu education / poor schools etc are to blame for poor educational outcomes.

Except.

We all know what the outcome will be. Let me give you a clue: no matter whether it’s matric or an SAT, some groups of people will still do better than others in any academic and aptitude test. In the USA, the people who do best at SAT's happen to be of East Asian origin.

So, as soon as comrade Blade introduces South Africa’s version of the SAT, guess what will happen? Right. A South African SAT still won’t solve comrade Blade’s problem and address his real reasons for wanting to offer another route to university. He will still have to institute quotas, like the extreme forms of racism perpetrated by the UCT's Faculty of Medicine against whites.

To understand this, just look at the USA: the Americans already have an SAT but now they have to institute quotas to keep the East Asians from filling too many places in science and engineering at MIT and Harvard. They're simply much better at maths and science than us Caucasians are.

The above obviously constitutes a very relevant philosophical question: what is the point of administering tests? Obviously it's to distinguish between competent and incompetent candidates. If you fail your bar exam, you can't become a lawyer. However, in the age of insane political correctness, things are not as simple as they seem. People can write tests and pass but if the politicians don't like the outcome, for example because only white people passed, tests are disregarded.

If you're going to disregard the outcome of a test and regardless of his passing or failing make somebody a neurosurgeon or give him a promotion, just because he happens not to be a Caucasian, what is the point of having a test at all? Does the test then just become some kind of charade that attempts to fool some people into believing that their abilities, as opposed to their skin colour, matter at all?

However, I believe I can help our dear comrade. Here’s my suggestion for a South African SAT, a test that will remove the need for any quotas and will allow comrade Blade to truly transform all universities.

1. You have 6 girlfriends and you’ve all been sexually active since age 8. You have also raped a number of women since age 14. What are the odds of all of you being HIV+? a) 100% b) 100% c) 100% (5 points)

2. You and your mates decide to rob a cash-in-transit van. What is the best artillery to take along? a) 9mm b) AK-47 c) RPG-7 d) M-16 e) all of the above (5 points)

3. The best way to get rich quickly in Mzansi is: a) Robbing a bank, b) working as a corrupt civil servant for Home Affairs, c) having a BEE deal awarded to you because you’re related to a minister, d) being friends with JZ. (5 points)

4. Driving on the wrong side of the road while pissed is acceptable if a) you’re a AA-appointed judge, b) you drive a black Jaguar, c) you really have to d) all of the above (5 points)

The Egyptian soccer team that is currently participating in the Confederations Cup soccer tournament in South Africa has complained that they've been robbed. "Typical of South Africa, one the most crime-ridden societies on earth" cynics would say, shaking their heads.

Things are not quite what they seem, however. Rumour has it that the players were robbed by hookers they were entertaining in their plush hotel rooms in the 5-star Michelangelo hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg. Prostitution is illegal in South Africa. If these rumours are true, the Egyptian "victims" were themselves committing a crime. Funny thing is they come from a Muslim country, where many women are forced to wear head-to-toe veils and where there are medieval laws against indecency, if not women in general.

In 1998 two touring Pakistani cricket players were mugged in South Africa. The team threatened to call off the remainder of the tour. Pakistan is also a fundamentalist Muslim country. It turned out that the players who were "mugged" were really beaten up after they had touched strippers in a sleazy Sandton joint called Club 69. Once again it appears that once the strictures of fundamentalist laws have been removed, these guys have no compunction in availing themselves of the pleasures of the flesh.

Rumours also circulated that the leader of the 9/11 attacks, Mohammed Atta, had a predilection for strippers, cocaine and alcohol. I'm sure Allah will forgive him, however, and that the offer of 70 virgins in heaven still stands provided you're willing to martyr yourself.

What is interesting is how some Muslims behave when they are no longer subject to religious laws. Perhaps it's not only the West that's so decadent...

The chardonnay socialists get a whipping at the polls

Many observers are somewhat perplexed by the extremely poor showing of the Left in the recent European Parliament elections, especially given the current economic crisis. One would have thought that parties with left-wing, socialist inclinations, those that promise more state aid to voters, would have done better among voters who are concerned about their long-term financial security.

The exact opposite happened, however. The Left was murdered in Europe’s elections. The real winners were right-wing parties.

The apparent mystification shown by the liberal press, such as The Economist, just once again goes to show how out of touch the Left and the liberals are with the concerns of the proverbial man in the street. This especially applies to well-off left-wingers.

The sardonic term “chardonnay socialist” is the often applied to those upper-class individuals who tend towards left-wing political views. These are people living in the better suburbs of London, the northern suburbs of Johannesburg or those on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. From the comfort of their penthouse apartments or mansions, they often want to lecture others on the “benefits” of multiculturalism.

What they will never do, however, is to experience those “benefits” for themselves. They will not, for example, go and live in suburbs like Harlem or cities like Bradford, where the “joys” of multiculturalism can be experienced first-hand. You will not catch a British chardonnay socialist living in a suburb with more mosques than churches, or an American one living in the inner-city area of Philadelphia. In South Africa they will live in their secure complexes in lily-white suburbs, hidden as far away as possible from the unwashed masses in Soweto.

While the white South African chardonnay socialists pay lip service to diversity, they strangely almost always marry white partners. One wonders what the statistical chances are of a truly colour-blind chardonnay socialist marrying a white partner, seeing that 9 out of 10 people in South Africa are not white... Chardonnay socialists in South Africa especially are however by no means all white. They are often nouveau-riche black plutocrats, the politically connected who became exceedingly rich without adding one iota of economic value. Like Julius Malema with his Mercedes and Sandton dwelling, they too will waste no time in escaping the unwashed masses for the leafy northern suburbs of Johannesburg, while still at the same time maintaining their left-wing rhetoric.

The ordinary voters in Europe, the working men and women, often do not have the luxury of living in Kensington or Highgate. They are forced by economic circumstances to live on streets where all the shops sell Halaal foodstuffs, where the hair salons specialize in ethnic hair. They have to compete with immigrants, often illegal immigrants, for welfare and jobs. They are the ones who experience the “joys” of diversity and multiculturalism first-hand.

Is it any wonder, then, that anti-immigrant parties like the Dutch PVV and the British BNP have shown remarkable gains in recent times?

Reitzhuis and Parktown Boys High: a case study in anti-Afrikaner bias

Possibly it’s because I hail from humble origins, but I’ve always been pretty skeptical about private schools. As one wag put it: Private schools are the cream of society – thick, rich and full of clots.

Although Parktown Boys High is admittedly not a private school, its fees are high and it is situated in the wealthy northern suburbs of Johannesburg. Possibly because of its liberal constituency, Parktown Boys was the first public school to admit non-whites in 1991. As the Wikipedia entry for the school gushes: “This was a bold step and can be attributed to the free thinking management which is passed down to the school boys.”

Pity that its so-called free-thinking and liberal management does not extend to curtailing its barbaric initiation practices, which include stripping people naked and beating them with cricket bats and clubs, one might add.

What is of particular interest to me is the reaction of the press, many of the old boys and parents to the arrest of those responsible for the brutal initiations at Parktown Boys in 2009, and the contrast to the Reitzhuis incident in 2008, as well as other incidents of initiation at Afrikaans-speaking schools and university residences.

For those who don’t remember, the Reitzhuis incident involved students at a University of the Free State residence filming black cleaners eating food, as part of a mock initiation ceremony, which had ostensibly been “urinated” on as part of a prank video aimed at satirizing the ANC regime’s obsession with racist transformation (aka the ethnic cleansing of whites from institutions.) In reality, the “urine” at Reitzhuis was Oros, an orange cordial. At no stage were the cleaners physically harmed, in contrast to the brutal beatings with cricket bats that boys like Pene Kimber’s son suffered.

Ms Kimber said during a TV interview that her son’s buttocks were covered in black bruises after the incident. In stark contrast, none of the Reitzhuis “victims” even thought of complaining, simply because they hadn’t been harmed. It was a black student who was not involved who stumbled across the video and whose complaint started the storm of controversy.

Possibly because the students at Reitzhuis were Afrikaners and their unhurt (and I want to emphasize: UNHURT) “victims” black, however, there was an orgy of condemnation from all and sundry, including the international press. The left and their sycophantic media had a field day by hysterically and in unison screaming “racism.” The ANC regime promptly instituted a commission of inquiry, which predictably concluded that all universities were infested by unrepentant white racists. Jonathan Jansen, an unapologetic critic and even hater of Afrikaners, was made rector of the university, possibly to teach those Afrikaner “racists” a lesson.

The students involved were also criminally charged, presumably by the institution itself.

Fast forward from February 2008 to February 2009. During a similar incident, this time at an upper class English-speaking academic institution (Reitzhuis was Afrikaans-speaking), the black head boy, Kaizer Tabane, of Parktown Boys was one of the ring leaders of the attacks on Ms Kimber’s white son and other victims. He was admittedly later stripped of his responsibilities but remained in the school. The students at Reitzhuis were expelled.

As far as I could ascertain, however, very few people viewed the Parktown attacks as a racial incident. There were no headlines in the New York Times calling Tabane a racist. This is illogical in the light of the Reitzhuis outcry, given that the ringleader at Parktown Boys, the head boy, Kaizer Tabane, was black, and his victims included whites. If white students at Reitzhuis play a prank on black cleaners without hurting them, it's racism. If a black headboy leads a vicious attack that leaves white people black and blue, it's not racism. Somebody should explain this to me someday.

The reaction and hypocrisy of the headmaster and some of the parents at Parktown Boys are also noteworthy. Whereas almost all callers to radio talk shows in the aftermath of the Reitzhuis video were unanimous in their shrill condemnation, many of the parents and old boys of Parktown Boys seem to want this incident kept silent. Many of them, in anonymous press interviews and calls to radio stations, want this incident to be handled “internally” (read: “swept under the carpet.”) The headmaster shows all the signs of somebody who desires a swift cover-up, accusing the press of bias against him. The parents of the miscreants at Parktown Boys want the charges withdrawn.

Note the important difference: the school was not the party that laid criminal charges. It was the mother of one of the victims.

Once again: when white, Afrikaans students play a prank in which nobody is physically harmed, it’s “racism” and it reaches the front pages of the international press. They are expelled from the institution and criminally charged by that institution.

When a black is a ringleader of a brutal attack on white victims at an English-speaking school, on the other hand, the headmaster and parents want it covered up and handled internally and the New York Times is strangely silent about the matter. No criminal charges are brought by the institution itself.

Call me excessively Afrikaans, but this reeks of the utmost hypocrisy and bias against Afrikaners and whites in general, perpetrated as usual by the idiotic English-speaking left-wing liberal.

Good riddance to another incompetent ANC cadre

The South African minister of communications, Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri, has died. While any death is sad, very few, with the exception of her family and the ANC regime, will miss this fundamentally incompetent waster of oxygen.

Her long list of failures and disastrous policy decisions have deservedly earned her the nickname "Poison Ivy."

South Africa is blighted by its sloth-like telecommunications monopoly, Telkom. Its telecommuncations costs are amongst the most exorbitant in the world.

Telkom has enjoyed a monopoly since its creation, and only recently got some modicum of competition in the form of a second communications provider, Neotel. However, Neotel's creation came disastrously late and has yet to bring down South Africa's astronomical internet and telephony costs. Matsepe-Casaburri was directly responsible for this state of affairs by deliberately instituting obstacles and delaying tactics.

Another piece of incompetence for which Matsepe-Casaburri (what IS it with these idiots and their double-barreled surnames?) can be blamed is the delay in installing another undersea network cable. She insisted that any cable that arrived at the South African coast had to be owned by a majority of local shareholders. This was no doubt to enrich some ANC cronies possibly Matsepe-Casaburri's husband or cousin.

Glittering eulogies have been spewing forth from the mouths of the ANC, and no doubt Matsepe-Casaburri will receive a state funeral, thereby adding to the billions she had cost taxpayers during her incompetent life.

Some may miss her. Internet users and the long-suffering South African consumers of telephony services won't be among them.

Increasing motor vehicle prices now is lunacy

The South African car industry is under severe pressure with sales dropping through the floor. Year-on-year sales, 2009 compared to 2008, are down by approximately 30%. Dealerships are closing. People working in the industry are losing their jobs.

If you believe that the law of supply and demand applies to the motor industry too, clearly the demand for motor vehicles has collapsed entirely. Nobody is buying cars. When demand is rising, sellers of products can increase their prices, because people want their goods. When demand is falling, however, it is very difficult to raise prices without exacerbating your falling demand.

Yet this is exactly what car dealers are doing. I have been receiving emails throughout March from BMW South Africa "warning" me about the coming price increase in April. BMW is not the only dealers raising their prices – Mercedes, Toyota and the others are doing the same. In Sunday's Rapport newspaper, it was reported that a new model 1.3 Toyota Corolla would set the idiot buyer back R195000 (approximately $20,000.) This is an insane price for a 1.3 liter runabout, and I don't care how many bells and whistles it has. It's still a 1300cc pissant.

Do the motor manufacturers such as BMW perhaps not know about the law of supply and demand? Were they not paying attention in Economics 101? Apparently not. To increase prices during such a severe international downturn, is utter madness, if not stupidity.

Expect more demands from the motor industry, nevertheless, that government (i.e. the taxpayer) should bail their industry out.

Expect the taxpayer, in turn, to have absolutely no sympathy for their lot, a fate which the car industry has brought upon itself because of its continuous gouging of the public. BMW should not warn me, Joe Public, about an increase in its prices. It should send out warning mails to its board of directors, informing them about how ludicrous increasing prices right now would be.

Criminality is rewarded in the transformed South Africa

Rear admiral Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala (and don't you just LOVE the pretentious double-barrel surname, borne by somebody who is clearly not fit to be a domestic servant?), an affirmative-action appointee in the South African Navy, was found guilty on four counts of fraud, loss of state equipment, crimen injuria and assault during 2008. She received a suspended sentence after stealing a notebook computer from the navy and assaulting a sentry.

Litchfield-Tshabalala was the navy's director of transformation. "Transformation" is the ANC regime's code for anti-white racism, and a catch-all phrase for the deliberate ethnic cleansing of whites from all public life. The admiral's criminality is therefore not without great irony, seeing that transformation is in fact nothing less the criminal plunder of white assets, and a systematic, Nazi-like campaign of racial hate against whites. She was thus the navy's director of criminal actions against white members of the navy.

Not only has transformation produced shining paragons of integrity like our dear Khanyisile, but it has also caused most expertise (i.e. whites) to flee the navy as their career opportunities became seriously limited. The net result is that the navy, in spite of its new vessels worth billions of dollars, is no longer able to defeat somebody rowing a kayak. It is rumoured that the exit of expertise caused by racist transformation has left the navy with expensive white elephant vessels that are lying idle, because their commanding officers were selected because they were black, and not because they are capable seamen.

The admiral has been on leave since August 2008, but has been receiving a full salary regardless. And now, to add insult to injury, and with jaw-dropping illogic, she has received a performance bonus of R25000 (approximately $2500). Yes, you read correctly, she has been rewarded for her criminality.

This is of course nothing new in the banana republic that South Africa has become since 1994. Why, even our next president is about to be rewarded for his criminal ties with Schabir Shaik.

Dropping charges against Zuma will accelerate the descent into a failed state

During a speech at the University of Pretoria, Mo Shaik, brother of convicted fraudster Schabir Shaik and himself a person of very suspect morals, not to mention a member of the Xhosa-Muslim-Communist clique running the ANC, that the National Prosecuting Authority would drop the case against Jacob Zuma.

Zuma is under investigation for nefarious dealings with Schabir Shaik. Shaik was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but was recently bizarrely paroled on so-called medical parole, although he suffers from nothing more serious than high blood pressure. According to the evidence, Zuma received bribes from Shaik as part of South Africa's infamous arms deal.

Logic dictates that there are two sides to bribery: the person doing the bribing, and the recipient. If the person doing the bribing is sentenced to jail, how can the counterparty get off scot free? However, this being Africa, such things are indeed possible.

It seems likely that Zuma will become president and not face jail, because the moronic majority of voters who are unable to discern between right and wrong, and who indeed seem to admire criminality, if they are not criminals themselves, will re-elect the criminal ANC regime. Should Mo Shaik be correct, however, and the case against Zuma indeed be dropped, it would be a body blow to fairness, transparency and equality before the law.

It would send out an unambiguous message: if you have political connections to the corrupt ANC regime, you are above the law. Should you not have such connections, as is the case with Clive Derby-Lewis, you can expect to rot in jail. Derby-Lewis, in spite of being a model prisoner, is being refused parole, whereas the scumbag Shaik was released on medical parole.

South Africa's criminal regime is mounting increasing pressure on the justice system, and in so doing eroding one of the cornerstones of a functional democracy. Should Zuma's case be dismissed, South Africa's descent into a failed, criminal state, a process already in progress, will be accelerated.

Third World immigration is in no Western country's interests

I must firstly point out that I am a resident of a 3rd World country myself, although I am admittedly of European (Dutch, German and French) descent.

We are often told, usually by liberals and left-wingers, how immigration from the 3rd World "benefits" recipient nations. The large-scale immigration to America from Europe of the 1800's and 1900's is often used as an example of these benefits.

The problem is that immigration today has a very different complexion to that which happened in the case of America. The immigration America experienced, starting with the Mayflower, consisted mainly of European Christians, most of whom came from advanced, Western cultures.

Immigration today is of a radically different nature. In the case of Europe, it is experiencing large-scale Muslim immigration, in other words by people from a radically (in every sense of the word) different culture, religion and skin colour.

America is also experiencing an unprecedented stream of people who not only look completely different to what was previously understood to be an American, but who also belong to a different culture entirely.

Whereas it may have been true that immigrants who arrived at Ellis Island tended to cluster in ethnic neighbourhoods or even ghettos, this soon changed as the 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants became upwardly mobile.

The above does not seem to be the norm with for example Pakistani immigrants to the UK, or Muslims in the Netherlands. They remain bound to the same area for generations, seemingly unable or unwilling to integrate with what is an alien culture to them. They are disproportionately dependent on welfare, at the cost of native inhabitants. These ethnic ghettos become breeding grounds for hostility towards their hosts, and even led to the terror attacks on London in 2004.

The immigrants' culture is often so at odds with Western values, that cultural and racial conflict is the inevitable result. Almost without exception, so-called racists in the recipient countries bear the blame when conflict happens, never the immigrants themselves, but the root cause is ignored. If there were no Turks in Germany, the skinheads would have nobody to attack. Remove the cause of the so-called racism, and it will simply disappear.

Furthermore, if immigration really benefits the host country so much, would staying behind not benefit the donor country even more? If those who have enough ambition and drive to board rafts and boats to cross the Mediterranean, were to apply their ambition and drive in their own country, would that not be of immense benefit to the host nation? Almost without exception the sources of immigrants are countries in dire need of skills and ambition. Almost inevitably, the flight of people of working age exacerbates the load on Western donor countries, who not only have to play host to the immigrants on their own soil, but also have to pump billions into foreign aid.

On the economic front, there is increasing resistance to immigration in European nations and the USA, and this is for good reason. It is unjustifiable for the United States to give an Indian programmer an H-1B visa if any American programmers are out of work.

Once again, as was the case with my previous column I fail to see the upside of immigration for any Western country.

In our modern, advanced and enlightened age, we have moved beyond primitive superstitions and beliefs, have we not? We can look back at the Catholic Church's threats against Galileo for daring to have wild theories about the solar system and nod sagely and feel smug that we've moved on.

The problem is of course we haven't really moved on. We are still scared of the modern-day equivalent of the Catholic Church: political correctness. There are certain things we dare not do, say or think, just like Galileo. One of them is to even dare to question the benefits of the great god diversity.

Diversity and the blind, unthinking and uncritical pursuit thereof have reached quasi-religious proportions. Anything that promotes or increases diversity is per definition good. Any resistance to diversity is by nature evil. It is frowned upon and open resistance to diversity is tantamount to heresy. It can cost you your reputation, if not your job.

Diversity, of course, means one thing and one thing only. It is rather like an electronic diode, allowing current to flow in only one direction. Diversity always means reducing the number of straight white males in any given situation, and replacing them with others – blacks, Asians or Latinos. Like the diode above, it never works in the opposite direction. Nobody would dare to suggest that the 100m Olympic sprint team representing the USA would benefit from fewer black faces and more whites.

A lack of diversity is however the natural state of affairs. Nobody had to teach you to associate with your own kind of kids on the school playground. You just did it. Nobody gave you a course to help you choose where you bought a dwelling – you naturally migrated to a neighborhood populated by people who looked more or less like you. It wasn't that you hated others, it was just natural and comfortable to associate with those who resembled you.

This is not the case with diversity. It is damn hard work. People have to be forced by law to participate in it. Another favourite word is "tolerance." If you have to tolerate something, it implies that you don't really like it. Organizations like the extreme left-wing, white-bashing Southern Poverty Law Center even have courses that aim to educate people to quote "appreciate diversity" unquote.

Nobody can furthermore explain the value proposition of diversity to me as a white man. Why must I attend courses and peruse handbooks to learn about it? What's in it for me? Where's the benefit? The answer is of course that there's no upside to me as a white man. On the contrary: people like me getting barred from colleges in the name of diversity is diametrically opposed to my best interests.

Not only is it not in my interests at all, it's way too much effort. I enjoy doing what comes naturally. It's nice associating with my own kind. I like to do things that make me feel comfortable. If I have to attend a course to get along with my neighbors, I may just possibly be living in the wrong area, y' know?

Are we heading towards a second revolution?

There can be no doubt whatsoever that the euphoria around the so-called miracle of the rainbow nation, South Africa, has completely evaporated since 1994. It was killed by rampant crime, corruption, decaying infrastructure, the abuse of the judiciary and many other actions of what is still a terrorist movement, the ANC.

This should not surprise anybody who's been reading the newspapers for the past 15 years since 1994. It has gradually become clearer and clearer that Nelson Mandela was not the Messiah; that Uhuru would also not put a chicken in every pot, and that South Africa was no different from any other African country in terms of its capacity to disappoint and disillusion.

What is also becoming clearer, is that as the financial tide went out worldwide, those swimming without trunks have been exposed. Here I am specifically referring to the beneficiaries of BEE, black economic empowerment, and affirmative action, AA. BEE is a form of forced racialized distribution, in terms of which white corporate assets are forcibly transferred to empowerment beneficiaries.

There are fundamental problems with BEE. One is that it is akin to winning a lottery. People who didn't take the risk, who didn't work their butts off, who just got handed wealth on a plate, are notorious for the way in which they waste such wealth. BEE is funded by loans, and these loans depend on the share prices of the donor companies going up. Exactly the opposite is happening at present, however. Many BEE transactions are about to fail because of the stock market collapse and crashing share prices.

Another aspect is that BEE attempts to short-circuit market forces. There is no relationship to the business acumen (if any) of, say, Smuts Ngonyama, and the millions he received merely for knowing the right people. It is therefore not productive in the sense that an entrepreneur's actions are productive economically. It is rather a form of tax on corporations. BEE lowers corporate competitiveness and makes the country as a whole less competitive.

Related to BEE is affirmative action, in terms of which millions of blacks were appointed to especially government jobs, not because they had the skills or experience, but simply as a reward for being black. Predictably, the chickens have come home to roost in this regard too. Companies which are under pressure are going to look at unproductive dead wood, and guess who're going to get the ax?

The artificially created black middle class was never sustainable. It depended on parasitizing white skills, i.e. white workers carrying AA appointees, and on rising stock prices to carry BEE beneficiaries. South Africa is therefore facing a situation whereby BEE beneficiaries are going to go from instant millionaires back to instant Joe Soaps. Companies are going to start thinking twice before appointing somebody just because he is black.

The country is going to sit in a situation where millions of newly-empowered blacks (empowerment is a fallacy done this way in any event) are going to have to go back to the townships from whence they came and to hand back their luxury cars.

My prediction is that they won't accept this lying down. Revolutions are led by the bourgeoisie, not the poor. A second, more violent revolution than 1994's is becoming a real possibility in South Africa.

Soccer World Cup 2010: a damp squib?

I must admit I'm not the world's biggest soccer fan. Why a game where people run around aimlessly kicking a ball for 90 minutes, with the final score often 0-0 or 1-0, has such international appeal, is quite beyond me.

I'm not alone in thinking that soccer is monumentally boring and a game for people with 0.005% brain activity, apparently. Witness the lack of interest shown in the USA compared to gridiron football. Soccer is seriously in need of a revamp in terms of wider goals, or a repeal of the ridiculous offside rule, if you ask me.

Be that as it may, South Africa's ruling ANC regime is apparently furious at the low level of ticket sales and general lack of interest shown in the 2010 World Cup Soccer.

According to a report in South Africa's Times newspaper, 80% of the tickets sold to date have been sold to foreigners. Ticket sales recently started happening online.

The true mystery here is why the cabinet or anybody else is surprised. South Africa is, after all, a third-world country mired in poverty. What did you expect, mister ANC cabinet member? Residents of squatter camps logging on with the super-fast broadband and latest PC's and flashing their Diner's Club Platinum cards in a rush to obtain tickets?

Did the cabinet members perhaps forget that most soccer fans in South Africa are from the poorer sections of the community, with no electricity in their shacks, let alone a broadband internet connection? Even the local discount of 40% off ticket prices still place the tickets beyond the reach of the vast majority of local fans.

Furthermore, people in European host countries like Germany have the expectation that their home teams may do well, or even win the cup. South Africa's pathetic soccer team, the abysmal Bafana-Bafana ("Boys-Boys"), are not even in the top 50 soccer teams in international terms. They have just as much chance of winning the World Cup as Jacob Zuma has of going to jail. International games between these losers and other international teams are often very poorly attended.

Big surprise then that the people who do have money in South Africa are also so apathetic. Many local fans would much rather watch Brazil play Italy than they would want to see the Banana-Bananas being thrashed 4-0 by Ecuador.

Given the international financial crisis, and the lack of affordability of tickets to local fans, do not be surprised if 2010 turns out to be one very expensive damp squib, resulting in major losses and white elephant stadia once the spectators have gone home.

The only chronic thing here is the ANC's bullshit

Schabir Shaik, convicted fraudster and South Africa's next president's financial "advisor" (in reality his partner in crime) has been released from prison on "medical grounds" (sic.)

No, that's not quite accurate. Shaik has spent very little time of his 28-month sentence actually behind bars. He was in fact in hospital most of the time, ostensibly suffering from high blood pressure. He was in reality released from hospital, not prison, on medical parole.

Up to now, medical parole has only been granted to those in the last stages of terminal conditions, in order to allow them to die at home, and even then this was rare. Thousands of AIDS cases die in prison annually. High blood pressure is not a terminal disease, although its complications may be. However, the interesting thing is Shaik immediately went home from "prison." He was not discharged and didn't go to a hospital for further treatment, as one would expect for someone with such a "serious" condition, but rather to his own dwelling. I suspect it will be a long wait before Shaik actually goes to a hospital of his own volition. Strange, that...

Furthermore, a very large proportion of South Africa's prison population suffers from another chronic disease called AIDS, one which is also potentially fatal and possibly more serious than mere high blood pressure. Will they too be allowed out of prison now, seeing that Shaik was allowed out? The authorities can hardly be consistent if they don't immediately release all HIV+ prisoners too, seeing the Shaik was let out.

The whole thing was a sham, a charade, a mockery of justice. Shaik's medical parole was granted for one reason only: as a political favour to Jacob Zuma. In what would surely be an extremely embarrassing "coincidence" in any civilized country, Jacob Zuma over the weekend said that he was of the opinion Shaik should be released. Voila! A few days later, in a ground-breaking ruling, Shaik is granted medical parole, and will probably spend his first night partying the night away by breakdancing in a night club.

Once again it is clear that there are one set of rules and laws for the ordinary people on the street or in prison, and another set entirely for those connected to the ANC regime. Seeing that Shaik has been rewarded for his despicable criminal acts by being let out of prison, can we expect to see the criminal Shaik as a replacement for Trevor Manuel - South Africa's next minister of finance?

How dumb are the Stormers' selectors?

On Saturday the 7th of March, the Stormers are facing the Bulls in a Super 14 rugby match at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

One of the possible members of the Stormers squad is one Luke Puke Watson, the player who insulted Afrikaners by using the perjorative term "Dutchmen" to describe us, and who feels the need to vomit on the Springbok rugby emblem.

Watson has already and deservedly been booed in earlier matches played at his home ground, Newlands. There is a much bigger problem waiting in Pretoria on Saturday, however. There are a million or more Afrikaners who live in Pretoria and surrounds, and the Afrikaners who live in Pretoria are a lot less forgiving than those in Watson's home town, Cape Town. Mr Watson can expect a very, very hot and hostile reception from the Loftus crowd.

That is if he is picked. One wonders whether the Stormers' selectors and coach Rassie Erasmus are really that dumb. Surely you don't want to place your team under added pressure, given that they've already lost two of their matches? Might there on the other hand be political pressure brought to bear on the Stormers' management, which would force their inclusion of this loathsome individual, to prove some kind of point?

I personally hope, as an Afrikaner, that they do pick Watson, and that he hears first-hand what we think of him.

Those sneaky Reds...

The South African Communist Party (SACP) held a conference over the weekend. According to Blade Nzimande, the head of the SACP, there are SACP candidates on the ANC's list of nominees.

Nzimande says that these candidates should be "accountable to the SACP." Let's understand this: the SACP does not stand in elections. You cannot at the polls vote for an SACP candidate, or for the party itself. You can only vote for the ANC, with the understanding that you may also be voting for communists, but there is no link between the will of the voters and the number SACP members of parliament.

Why then, if the SACP expects accountability and loyalty from their members who happen to be on the ANC's list, does it not do the logical thing stand in elections as an entity on its own. What is the SACP afraid of? We all know the answer: clearly it knows that it is a party of ideological dinosaurs, who belong in the dustbin of history along with the Berlin Wall.

The entire setup smacks of blatant opportunism by communists, who by riding on the coattails of the ANC, want to have a say out of all proportion to the true size of its membership base - less than 50,000 out of a total population of 50 million. They don't want to participate in elections but yet they want political power. How extremely democratic of them.

Having a say without being accountable to a voting public, is called a dictatorship. Comrades: if you want to be tinpot dictators, why don't you all just bugger off and go and jerk Kim Jong-Il off in his North Korean paradise on earth?

Cope self-destructs

And so the political party Cope self-destructs – if not politically, then at least as far as its credibility is concerned.

Cope keeps making promises about accountability and its commitment to fighting corruption. Having made all these promises, however, what does it do in the key Western Cape province, the one in which the opposition parties stand a realistic chance of usurping the ANC’s provincial government?

It elects Allan Boesak as its candidate for provincial premier. For those not familiar with this Boesak's past, he was the one who embezzled Danish donors’ funds.

The abovementioned donor funds were intended for the poor, amongst which Boesak’s own flock must surely count. Boesak, however, like Carl Niehaus, another corrupt cleric formerly associated with the ANC, clearly has a taste for the high life, especially so when there are women around. In particular, relationships across the colour line seem to hold a peculiar fascination for the ANC's cadres.

Niehaus has been married to black women twice, something which was illegal under the apartheid government. Boesak, a coloured (in South Africa this indicates a mixed-race, as opposed to black, individual), also started an adulterous affair with a white journalist, Elna Boesak, for whom he left his wife. Hardly behavior befitting a man of the cloth, but something paled when compared to his next misstep.

Rumour has it that one cause of Niehaus’s current financial woes was the demands that the women in his life made on him in terms of lifestyle. Boesak seems to have had similar issues, because he stole the Danish donor funds after he became involved with Elna. Boesak stole from the poor to fund a lavish lifestyle and fancy house, no doubt, and also possibly to keep Elna in the style she thought she deserved. Hardly the stuff of priestly virtue and celibacy, but regrettably exactly like Niehaus and any number of ANC cadres known for their extravagance.

Boesak was sentenced to prison for his theft, but was later pardoned by president Thabo Mbeki after serving time in prison. However, pardon or no pardon, the fact remains that Boesak is a lowlife, and clearly unfit to hold public office. Cope hasn’t won any seats in parliament yet, and already if sullies its reputation by picking criminals like Boesak as its candidate.

Cope has shown itself to be no better than the bunch of thieves, terrorists, murderers and scumbags known as the ANC, from whence most of its leadership came. But here’s the irony: there will still be idiot voters who vote for Cope, even with the Boesaks of this word on its list of candidates. They will believe the words gushed by the politicians, and not consider their actions.

Racist murder by taxi driver

To say South Africa's taxi drivers are a bunch of lawless louts, would be the understatement of the century. They are quite literally a law unto themselves.

As any South African motorist can attest, the normal rules of the road seemingly do not apply to the approximately 800,000 taxi drivers who contaminate our roads with their un-roadworthy wrecks and foul driving habits. They refuse, for example, to be stuck in traffic jams like lesser mortals, and will drive in the emergency lane, over verges and even in the face of oncoming traffic.

Quite clearly taxi drivers view themselves as above the law, and see their precious time as much more important than that of other road users. The overwhelming majority of taxi drivers are black, which is relevant to the rest of this piece.

In a shocking example of yet another racist murder, a white schoolgirl in the Pretoria suburb of Garsfontein has been deliberately run over by a taxi driver. Note that, unlike the case of manslaughter the police are investigating, the incident was clearly first-degree murder, not manslaughter. Manslaughter is the accidental killing of another person.

This incident was clearly premeditated, according to eyewitnesses. The driver repeatedly hooted for the schoolgirl on her scooter to get out of his way. When she did not comply quickly enough, he in cold blood deliberately ran her over. If it were manslaughter and accidental, the driver would have stopped after the "accident." This didn't happen. The driver did not stop and is still on the run. The corrupt South African Police Services clearly do not view this shocking racist murder as worthy of their urgent efforts at investigation.

The life of a mere white was also clearly less important than his precious time in the mind of the idiot behind the wheel of the taxi. Predictably, however, there will be no outcry about the racist nature of this murder, just like there is no outcry about the 3000 whites who are murdered annually by blacks in the orgy of racist murders that have occurred since the dawn of the so-called New South Africa in 1994.

We should not hold our breath for the local media to call a spade a spade, unlike the very infrequent white-on-black murders, which are inevitably the subject of a great outpouring of breast-beating and condemnation in the media. This incident will therefore quietly go away and be swept under the carpet, lest it offend the politically correct.

Should the taxi driver be caught, liberal and left-wing apologists will perhaps fall over one another to paint the poor taxi driver as the real victim, no doubt of apartheid, and completely forget about the grieving white family of yet another victim of a shocking black-on-white racist murder.

Many black employees are political appointees

The Mail & Guardian reports that 28% of all South African municipal employees nationally, and as many as 70% in the Mpumalanga province, are appointed in posts that are not reflected in the organization structures of the local authorities.

In other words, they are political appointments. They are not there because of their qualifications or experience, but because they know the right people and, very importantly, because they are black. With a few rare exceptions, such as the monumentally incompetent Mike Sutcliffe, you can be very sure that these are black appointees. Politics in South Africa is to a high degree of accuracy split along racial lines. If you are a white, you won't belong to the ruling ANC regime, and vice versa.

This type of cronyism should surprise nobody. This is Africa, after all. What the Mail & Guardian article does not point out, however, is that this sorry state of affairs taints the entire South African workplace, and not only local authorities. A very large proportion of blacks in all posts, public and private sector, have been appointed in terms of the racist policy known as affirmative action.

Affirmative action represents the very worst kind of political discrimination, akin to apartheid, in terms of which a white minority is systematically targeted and excluded in favour of those who are often less qualified and experienced, but who possess the correct skin colour.

This practice haunts all black employees, especially those in managerial and professional positions. A large percentage of them can never be sure that they would have obtained their positions were it not for affirmative action. People who deal with such people in the corporate environment will forever be asking themselves whether they are dealing with a person who is capable of real decision making, or even capable of really doing their jobs, instead of being a token employee with a dark skin.

One can only speculate about the psychological impact this must have on a black person who is appointed as a manager, for example. Does such a person not experience constant and nagging self-doubt? Jimmy Manyi is a prime example of somebody who in my opinion has a giant chip on his shoulder, no doubt because of his feelings of inferiority which could have resulted from his being appointed on the basis of his skin colour.

Political appointments, in short, taint the entire South African workplace.

White schools parasitized

The only infinite thing he knew of, said Einstein, was human stupidity. To this I would like to add another infinite quantity: human hypocrisy.

If there is one thing that especially South Africa's whites are constantly accused of, it is of racism. This is of course the case all over the world; any white in a so-called multicultural society who objects to others plundering that which he and his ancestors built up, is automatically a so-called racist.

Just ask any American who dares point out that illegal immigration from especially Mexico is destroying America. Accusations of racism in South Africa are usually leveled when one or the other member of the criminal ANC regime is inevitably caught with his hands in the cookie jar, something which is bound to happen regularly, given the ANC's terrorist origins.

So it is in education. Afrikaners, the white descendants of Dutch, German and French immigrants who started arriving in the 1650's, speak a West Germanic language called Afrikaans. Afrikaans is related to Dutch. Afrikaans-speaking schools in South Africa are known for their good discipline and good results. Afrikaans schools always figure among the top achievers in the final exams, in spite of Afrikaners being a small minority (+-6% of the total population.) The Afrikaans school Hoër Meisieskool in Pretoria was the best academic performer in the most populous province, Gauteng, in 2008. In the annual lists of the best performing schools, you can bet 60% or more would be Afrikaans schools.

However, this is not a tolerable situation to the ANC regime. It is determined to undermine and cleanse Afrikaans schools from the educational landscape. Its primary weapon is to introduce so-called "English-speaking" pupils, thereby forcing an Afrikaans school to switch to English. These "English-speakers" are nothing of the sort; their home language is always one of the indigenous languages such as Zulu of Tswana. Whites then flee the school as standards and discipline deteriorate, and pretty soon the school is another underachieving, failed institution, populated exclusively by black pupils. The children are no better off, but the odious minister of education, the Swazi-educated fatso with her posh English accent, Naledi Pandor and her ideologues, have ethnically cleansed another Afrikaans school and presumably are then happy.

Whites who attempt to resist the takeover of their schools are automatically labelled as racist. Naturally. This, in spite of the United Nations supposedly supporting the rights of minorities. Witness, for example, the response of one "Dale" to this blog. In addition to being unable to spell, Dale immediately and hysterically screams "racism", the hallmark of the intellectually bankrupt left-winger.

The ANC regime receives overwhelming support from the black population in election after election, so black voters must clearly agree with the ANC's anti-white racist policies. However, and this is the enormously hypocritical thing, this does not stop them from wanting to parasitize white excellence.

The Sunday Times reports, for example, that white schools in suburbs are being swamped by black pupils, whose parents vote with their feet against schools staffed by black teachers in their own areas. (In the article, references to "Model C" schools apply to formerly white schools.)

One principal is quoted as saying: "They hear that the school has a 100% pass rate and they trust the white set-up far more than they trust township schools because there are no unions, no strikes."

Black schools are therefore emptying and closing, whereas white schools are overcrowded. However, this is a self-defeating, temporary practice. As soon as there are too many black pupils in a school, the standards start dropping, discipline deteriorates, whites flee and the results plummet. This cannot be overcome by merely invading white schools and within a very few years the school is another failed school.

Not merely content with plundering whites' monetary wealth by means of the obscenely racist practices of affirmative action and black economic empowerment (the latter practices are the modern-day equivalent of the systematic dispossession of Jews by the Nazis, being the systematic plunder of a racial minority's resources, merely because they are white), the parasites are now also attempting to plunder whites' intellectual wealth by systematically invading white schools.

You actively supported their campaign aimed at maiming and killing innocent civilians. You supported them when they killed innocent people in incidents like the Amanzimtoti shopping centre bomb.

You were deservedly locked up for your repulsive treachery, you murderous coward. You later claimed that 20 men had raped you the day before your trial. Was that a lie too, comrade? How come you didn't receive medical treatment? How come you didn't mention a word of this in your trial?

When "democracy" (sic) came to South Africa, you and your comrades wasted no time in plundering the nation's wealth. You stole, lied, cheated and defrauded your way to an extravagant lifestyle along with the rest of the fundamentally corrupt ANC cadres.

But help me her, comrade Carl. You're a white person, are you not? Didn't white people, far from being on the receiving end, benefit from apartheid? How can you then use apartheid as a justification for your behaviour? Your lies point to only one thing: the entire so-called struggle was based on lies. Flying high with SAA (again)

Another crew member of South African Airways (SAA) has been arrested at Heathrow with cocaine in her hand luggage. In an earlier incident, a security guard and a cabin crew member have been arrested, also for drug possession.

One would expect that the management of SAA would have taken stern action in order to prevent a recurrence after the first incident. One would however be wrong. There is no management, and has not been any management for a significant length of time. What there is, instead of management, is cronyism, corruption and theft. You know - the usual kind of thing that one finds in a country whose next president is also himself being investigated on suspicion of corruption, and where senior officials are appointed not because they are honest or capable, but because they are not white.

The current CEO of SAA, Kaya Ngqula, is under suspension. Another affirmative action appointee, one of many who have been implicated in corruption, Ngqula is also under suspicion of corruption, having awarded a tender to a consortium which allegedly included Ngqula's wife. Under his so-called "leadership", the airline has lost billions of taxpayers' money, but Nqcula has continued to pay him and his so-called board of directors millions in bonuses.

And then South Africans wonder why the British authorities have slapped visa restrictions on South Africans visiting the UK. Are there any honest South Africans left? Will South Africa's voters punish the ruling party for the breakdown of morality, for its endemic corruption.

Of course not. This is Africa. There is no link in voters' minds between their power to vote and their ability to punish the corrupt. The one and only conclusion one can draw is that African voters do not see corruption as wrong. Like the SAA cabin crew member, the only difference between a corrupt South African and another one is that the latter has not had the opportunity. Yet.

NWU and the religion of non-racism

One criticism of organized religion is that many of them do not exactly encourage critical thought. There are certain dogmas that require unquestioning belief, even though they may be illogical or contradictory.

So too, it appears, with the dogmas of the new religion of anti-racism and political correctness. The dogmas are spouted again and again, with no semblance of any critical inquiry. Certain things are automatically, unquestionably, fundamentally good, and some things are, well, just plain evil.

We all know by now what the good things are: Transformation, a.k.a. the ethnic cleansing of whites from all public and private institutions, is good without a doubt. You dare not question its validity or usefulness, at the risk of being excommunicated by the Spanish Inquisition of Political Correctness. The evil and bad things are equally easy to identify. It’s simple - there is only one evil thing, really. It’s white racism.

Is your dog pregnant? White racism. Poverty in Africa? White racism. A comet about to hit the earth? You guessed.

Take the following masterpiece of anti-racist dogma (http://www.mg.co.za/article/2009-02-13-cricket-bat-beatings-at-nwu). It is about a report issued by a ministerial task team on the North West University (NWU) with campuses in Potchefstroom, Mafikeng and the Vaal Triangle.

The sensationalist headline reads: “Cricket bat beatings at NWU”. Pictures of hospital wards filled with cracked skulls spring to mind. The truth is rather more banal, however. It’s part of an initiation ceremony, one that has existed for many years, no doubt. Students are spanked on the buttocks using a cricket bat during an initiation ceremony. It’s only now become a problem, for reasons that are unclear. According to the task team, initiation practices are "racially biased".

You've lost me there. When white students spanked other whites with a cricket bat, there was no problem, apparently. The university functioned perfectly well, spankings or no spankings, for many years. What’s changed subsequently?

Some real problems are admittedly identified in the piece, such as the maladministration by the rector of the Mafikeng campus and public violence for which four students were expelled. Ranked right along these, however, is the so-called problem of students not being allowed to walk on a patch of “holy” grass. Hardly in the same league of problems, public violence and not being allowed to walk on a patch of grass as part of a student prank, wouldn’t you say?

But, wait! We have the Answer, the Way, the Light and the Truth, yea, amen!

The answer is the Holiest of Holies, the great god Transformation. (Am I blaspheming by even writing its holy name?) Coupled to this is white students whose attitude needs to change. In an extremely scientific statement, the following “problem” (sic) is identified in the report: “White students on the Potch campus view black students as guests, not equals”.

Oh, wow! What a truly profound revelation, on a par with Paul’s Damascus experience, perhaps? But hang on - how did they determine that to be the case? No sane white would admit that he is a heretic by blaspheming against the great religion of anti-racism and admitting he didn't view blacks as equals. Lemme guess. They went and asked a couple of black students what they thought those nasty, racist whites thought about them.

In a monumental non-sequitur, the so-called lack of Transformation (note the capital T) is also repeatedly identified as a “problem." So, logically, the Answer is to have complete Transformation. Nowhere, however, is any explanation proffered as to why Transformation in and of itself would be an magic bullet that would solve all the NWU’s “problems”. (Interestingly, the report itself admits that the NWU is performing above the national average.) No, it is clearly a goal, if not a God, in and of itself.

With a supreme lack of logic, the authors of both the newspaper report and the ministerial task team somehow missed the fact that the most Transformed campus, the Mafikeng one, seems to be the one with the real problems – the maladministration and public violence. Go figure…

Time for the IEC to get its thumb out of its ass

The so-called "Independent" Electoral Commission (IEC) (in reality a collection of transformed ANC lackeys with an anti-white racist agenda, determined to deny whites the vote in any way it can) has said in its application to the court that the court decision to allow South Africans abroad to vote would be, and I quote, a "logistical nightmare" unquote.

Well, gee, whiz, IEC, we're so sorry to inconvenience you. We, the taxpayers who pay your enormous salaries, apologize most humbly that you now actually have to do some planning and remove your collective thumbs from your posterior orifices. I know this will probably mean no more arriving at 10am and leaving at 2pm as those who were appointed on the basis of their skin colour and not necessarily competence are wont to do, but hey, you do draw a fat salary, don't you? This will probably impact on your golf handicaps, I know, but you are supposed to be public servants, y'know?

I know I'm just a white guy and my thinking is admittedly not as transformed as yours is, but here's a thought. Somehow the most successful democracy of them all, the USA, manages to allow its citizens to vote by means of postal votes. So do the UK and New Zealand.

You're always telling us how South Africa is such a modern, advanced democracy. South Africa has one-sixth of the population of the USA, so surely we can do what the Yanks can do, can't we? I know a lot of the postal votes will get lost or stolen by the transformed Post Office, which is why Amazon doesn't deliver to South Africa any longer, but surely you can appoint a few token blacks in the Post Office which will in and of itself immediately resolve all the issues there, transformation being the magic bullet that it is?

Time is running out, guys. Stop shopping for your next Maybach, sexually harrassing female employees and start working for a change.

South Africa pays the price for Muslim extremism and a corrupt ruling regime

The United Kingdom has announced that, in future, South Africans will also have to apply for visas in order to visit the UK. Up to now, South Africans could visit that country for a period of up to 6 months without the need for a visa. The UK is South Africa's main trading partner, and visa restrictions would impose a significant penalty on trade between the two countries.

The reason supplied by the UK is concerns around terror, and it is not hard to guess why. South Africa has a large Muslim community and a history of Muslim extremists in its midst. One Muslim group, Pagad ("People Against Gangsterism and Drugs") were guilty of planting explosive devices at the Cape Town Waterfront. It is also rumoured that there are South African links between planned bomb attacks in the UK and refuge for alleged terrorists on local soil.

Furthermore, there seems to be a growing Muslim militancy in South Africa. During the past week, for example, an illegal demonstration was held against the Israeli invasion of Gaza, after the organizers had been forbidden from doing so by the police. A leading Muslim politician and deputy minister in the ANC regime, Fatima Hajaig, recently made remarks to the effect that Jewish money was controlling Western governments (sic.) Such talk from a senior government official could hardly have helped reassure South Africa's Western allies that South Africa did not offer sanctuary if not active assistance to Muslim extremists.

Another huge contributing factor to the visa restrictions that are to be imposed, is the endemic corruption and criminality of the ruling ANC regime. Home Affairs, the department responsible for issuing passports and identity documents, is notorious for its hugely corrupt and criminal officials. It is allegedly easy to purchase counterfeit South African passports for a few dollars from corrupt officials.

All in all, South Africa is now paying a price for entertaining the illusion of the so-called benefits of multiculturalism, as well as the extremely corrupt nature of its ruling regime, the ANC.

Science fiction or reality?

A common theme in Dystopian science fiction stories and novels is the complete breakdown of law and order, which is then restored by the hero. Here I'm thinking of for example Robocop and Escape from New York, in which the hero restores law and order by strewing the landscape with the bodies of the bad guys.

A feature of these movies is that the police forces are often extremely corrupt and that there are even tribes of police in conflict with other police or criminal tribes. Another common theme is that of the crooked cop, and corruption at high levels in the police force.

Of course these movies are aimed at tittilating the citizens of countries where there is effective policing and political accountability, and scaring the moviegoers with what might happen in the future.

What is science fiction in the United States is however reality in South Africa. The chief of police, an ANC cadre and career diplomat with no experience in policing whatsoever, called Jackie Selebi, was suspended due to his ties with organized crime. We're not talking about a precinct commander here; this joker was the country's Chief of Police.

In South Africa the traffic police are typically run by the cities, whereas the ordinary police are a national function. The traffic police do not usually investigate criminal matters other than traffic offences. In a truly bizarre incident during 2008, however, the city of Johannesburg's Metro Police and the national South African Police Services were involved in - wait for this – a shootout!

Yes, you read correctly. One police tribe shooting at another police tribe, unbelievable though this may sound. The Johannesburg Metro Police is on strike again, this time because its chief, Chris Ngcobo, is corrupt according to the ordinary members. A female police officer has additionally laid a claim against Ngcobo whom she accuses of raping her.

This is clearly a mutiny in the ranks of the Metro Police against their chief, against whom the city seems unwilling to take any action. It is probably also an opportunity for the many obese members of the Metro Police to stock up on their Big Mac calories.

Why the South African property market is a huge bubble

Influential publications such as The Economist have long held that the true economic value of a home, if a rational economic approach was the only consideration, would be the value of the rental you could obtain by owning the home plus the capital growth over time.

My contention is that the South African property market is one enormous bubble, which, in line with other international property markets, is due for a huge correction. There is no doubt that it is a bubble waiting to burst.

Let's do the math.

The average house price in South Africa is around R950,000 (more or less US$100,00.) If you were to purchase a home and obtain an 80% bond, your monthly repayments would be around R9400 per month.

Average rentals obviously vary per area, but a monthly amount of R5500 is a fair estimate of a rental for the size of house you could buy for R950,000. It should immediately be apparent that you are losing around R4000 per month, if you purchased the house as an investment, intending to rent it out.

But wait, some would say. The house is a capital asset that appreciates over time. OK, let's take 5% per annum as a long-term average capital appreciation rate. At the end of your 20 year bond period, your home would be worth R2,5 million rand. You would have paid R2,26 million in bond repayments, but would have received R2.18 million rand in rental income, assuming you increased the rentals by 5% per year as well.

Your net position after 20 years is: R2.5 million plus R2.18 million minus R2.26 million which adds up to R2.43 million. There is a problem, though – this amount is of course excluding taxes – rental income is taxable, and you'd have to pay municipal rates and taxes too.

However, if you'd merely invested your money in a bank account, at 9% interest, you'd be R6 million richer! You would have had no administration to worry about, no maintenance, and no municipal taxes. In short, buying a property at the current prices would be an extremely poor investment, far, far worse than just leaving your money in the bank, which is also not the best investment strategy.

The above of course also implies that properties in South Africa are still vastly, immensely overpriced. I would say that even halving the price of the R950,000 house would still result in a price that is too high.

There is no way that, given the current rental market, that a R950,000 house is worth that amount in economic terms, no matter what estate agents try to tell you. You would be far better off from a financial point of view renting a house. Do not even consider buying a house as an investment, because it is clear the South Africa's property market is in the throes of a huge, unsustainable bubble.

If you want a good investment, almost anything is better than South African residential property at present. Put your money in the bank, for example. At least that way, you won't have the headache of tenants wrecking your property.

Is Acsa guilty of BEE fraud?

South Africa ostensibly put apartheid behind it in 1994. In practice, it did no such thing. What happened instead was that it merely changed the beneficiaries of state-sponsored racial discrimination. But that's OK, isn't it? I mean, as long as it's whites who are on the receiving end, nobody says a word...

One of the pillars of the neo-apartheid being perpetrated by the ANC regime against whites is known as Black Economic Empowerment or BEE. BEE is nothing but a form of racial discrimination against whites, and a legalized way of plundering of whites' resources. In addition, it represents a creeping form of nationalization by means of which white assets are systematically being stolen and placed in the hands of ANC cadres.

Because of its racialized nature and inherent dependence on cronyism, BEE lends itself to large-scale corruption. Companies are for example awarded state tenders on the basis of how many black faces work for them or how well they are connected to the ANC regime, and not on their ability to actually do the job. In the latest example of probable BEE corruption, the Airports Company (ACSA) has awarded a tender to a company called Vuda Bus.

The tender was to provide a shuttle bus service from the terminal buildings of OR Tambo International Airport to the long-term parking. (OR Tambo was formerly Johannesburg International - OR Tambo was an ANC non-entity, only known for his total mediocrity.) All good and well, except there is a problem with the awarding of the tender to Vuda. Vuda was clearly surprised by winning the tender. Perhaps those submitting the tender did not actually believe they stood a chance, or perhaps it was submitted as a joke.

You see, vuda Bus does not actually own any vehicles. It won the tender without having a single bus to its name.

It had to hastily approach the previous bus operator to borrow its vehicles. God only knows what expertise it has in terms of, say, scheduling and fleet management. How did this happen? Did somebody not actually check up on the company's credentials? You know - due diligence and all those racist practices that are apparently superfluous in the New! Improved! South Africa?

Well, the name Vuda should give us a clue. Its name indicates that it is in all probability a black-owned fronting company, no doubt with links to a) somebody high up in Acsa, or b) with connections to the ruling ANC regime. Do not be surprised if it turns out that the owner of Vuda is perhaps related to the affirmative action-appointed head of Acsa, one Monhla Hlahla.

(Practically no state-owned company such as Acsa would be headed by a white, with predictable results - the state airline, SAA, is losing billions due in no small part to the sheer incompetence of its black, affirmative-action CEO, Khaya Ngqula. Khaya Ngqula awards himself and his cronies millions and bonuses each year, in spite of costing the taxpayer billions.)

Yet again we are confronted with the gross corruption and anti-white racial capitalism which taints South African society.

Why Zuma is an appropriate leader for South Africa

The leader of the ruling party, the ANC, Jacob Zuma, will have to face a criminal trial starting in August 2009. He was fired from parliament for his nefarious dealings with a Muslim businessman and member of what is literally a crime family, Schabir Shaik. (Shaik's brother, Mo, is also being investigated for corruption around the arms deal.)

Zuma has deployed all the tricks in the legal book to stay out of court and out of jail. Would an innocent person allow accusations and charges against him to drag on for 10 years? Why not get it over with and simply prove your innocence in court, especially if you have the incentive of becoming president?

The irony is that, with an election looming in April, Zuma will probably be president of South Africa in August. A sitting president will thus be involved in a criminal trial. The first citizen of the country in the accused dock.What a truly elevating prospect for a country which aspires to be a modern, liberal democracy but which is in reality just another failed African banana republic, with a fundamentally corrupt regime at the helm.

A criminal leader for a criminal nation

Zuma's criminal trial will however not be inappropriate, considering he is the leader of what is still one of the largest organized crime organizations in the word, the ANC, a motley collection of former terrorists, Marxists, kidnappers (Winnie Mandela), the corrupted (half of the entire ANC MP's were implicated in the Travelgate scam) and other diverse criminal scum, including murderers and rapists. Furthermore, South Africa is in the top 3 nations internationally in terms of its murder rate. Since the dawn of so-called "democracy" in 1994, it has effectively become a criminal state, similar to countries like Colombia, where upward mobility means participation in crime. (In South Africa even the state participates enthusiastically in the plundering of others' resources, by means of the legalized racial theft called Black Economic Empowerment (BEE.))

Millions of idiot voters will still vote for the ANC, in spite of the very dubious morality of its leader Jacob Zuma. By voting for the ANC regime, they are sending a clear message to the rest of the world: South Africans do not view crime as morally wrong. Zuma, the criminal, is therefore a very appropriate leader of a nation of criminal rabble.

In the period around the first "democratic" (sic) elections in South Africa, around 1994, the province of Kwazulu Natal was in a state of virtual civil war. The violent conflict was mainly between the traditionalist Zulu party, the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and the African National Congress (ANC).

The support base of the IFP is mainly in the rural areas, whereas the ANC's tends to lean towards urban areas. Over the years, there have been many incidents of violence between supporters these two parties. Every so often, a politician is the victim of a drive-by shooting, or there are incidents of violence involving stone-throwing, sticks and even assault rifles.

With an election due in 2009, the political temperature is bound to rise, and one would logically expect the politicians involved to keep this in mind. One would expect them to do their planning in such a way that they do not create a situation that could lead to further violence.

One would be wrong. This is Azania. Things don't work that way here. Planning? What planning?

The ANC and IFP both held rallies in Nongoma over the weekend.

Both of them booked the same venue.

On the same day.

And then there are expressions of surprise and outrage all round when the rival supporters wanting to enter the same venue clash. They pretend to be surprised that violence happened. Three members of the ANC were shot shortly after the rally. Stones were thrown at buses transporting ANC members. Each party is now blaming the other party.

Once again, both the IFP and ANC were well aware of the history of violence. There was absolutely no excuse for holding the rallies at the same venue on the same day. It was either shockingly bad planning, deliberate provocation or both.

110 Kenyans qualify for the 2009 Darwin Awards

The Darwin Awards are presented to individuals who, through their own stupidity, improve the gene pool of the human race by dying while doing something extremely silly, thereby preventing their clearly defective genes being passed on to another generation.

In what is probably some kind of record for both the Darwin Awards and group stupidity, at least 111 people died while attempting to scoop up fuel that was leaking from an overturned tanker near the town of Molo in Kenya. Scores of others were injured in the incident.

It somehow didn't occur to those killed and injured that a) they were dealing with a flammable substance leaking from the tanker, b) that most of them do not possess motorized vehicles of any nature and c) that overturned tankers often catch fire. I don't even want to consider the possibility that some moron dropped a lit cigarette thereby precipitating the blaze. That would really be mind-bogglingly dumb.

The tragedy may not be over yet. Presumably, many of those that did manage to survive the incident, are going to use the fuel they stole to do – what? Light fires in their homes, thereby setting fire to their shacks and in so doing perhaps kill themselves as well as a few random family members?

News reports are calling this an accident, but I disagree. The tanker overturning was an accident. The other deaths may be due to a different cause.

Zuma now has blood on his hands

In yet another example of the abuse of state resources, an individual was knocked down and killed by ANC president Jacob Zuma's blue light convoy. They were on their way to collect Zuma from an ANC meeting at Ulundi in the Kwazulu Natal province.

Note, once again, that Zuma holds no public office, although he is the head of the ANC political party. His salary is not paid by the taxpayer (one suspects he is still receiving "gifts" from the likes of Schabir Shaik, who was jailed for bribing Zuma.) How can he then insist on the use of state resources - armed police officers who are provided at the taxpayer's expense, but this luxury is not allowed to, say, Helen Zille, the head of the opposition Democratic Alliance?

The death of the innocent person at the hand of these simian assholes (and I include Zuma in the latter) is directly attributable to the abuse of state resources, something for which Jacob Zuma is already in legal trouble. The blood of the innocent person over the weekend is therefore on Zuma's conscience, or more accurately it would have been, had this corrupt polygamist had any sense of right and wrong.

Are the Republicans going to learn their lesson?

The rot in the GOP didn't start with the election of Barack Obama. They were also convincingly routed in the previous midterm elections 2 years ago, with the Democrats gaining a large number of seats at their expense. There was no Obama to terrorize them back then.

The obvious scapegoat for their poor showing in the elections is George W Bush. It's easy to point fingers at the man because of the Iraq quagmire, or because of the state of the economy. Bush inherited a surplus from Clinton, which the Republicans managed to turn into the largest deficit in history over the Bush years.

In spite of Bush's low popularity ratings (something like 22% just before he left office) the Republicans did surprisingly well among their traditional supporter base. More than half of all white voters still voted for McCain. The overwhelming Hispanic and black vote, coupled with the minority of whites, gave Obama the victory, however.

What the Democrats had and the Republicans lacked, was a charismatic youngish leader. McCain was more than 70 years old, compared to the youthful Obama. The Republicans lost out among younger white voters. Is it too much to ask for that in the next presidential election, the Republicans try to choose as their candidate a charismatic, youngish, intelligent, attractive, well-spoken, moderate leader? A Republican JFK, as it were. Or here's a new one: what about a female lead candidate?

And no, not another huntin', fishin' Sarah Palin. She may have had some librarian-like sex appeal going for her, but quite frankly somebody who probably views roadkill as a recognized source of nutrition is not going to appeal to young urban voters.

They need somebody who realizes that the world doesn't end at Cape Cod. They need somebody who has the intellectual firepower to take Obama on in terms of oratory. Even Condi Rice would have been a better choice than Palin.

And PLEASE, Republicans, get somebody who's internet-savvy next time. You know - somebody who has at least sent more than one email before. And old fogey that admits he doesn't use the internet is somehow less than appealing to the net generation, some of whom may have voted for you. Obama's web-based campaign showed you up badly in the past. I am hereby offering my services fee a very modest consultation fee should nobody in the entire GOP understand how to develop web applications....

If the Republicans don't see the light, they're going to be spending a long, long time in the political wilderness.

Yet another masterpiece in incompetence from the ANC regime

There is one talent that the ANC regime has perfected: its infinite ability to suprise us all with the sheer magnitude of its utter stupidity.

Nothing is better proof of this than the laughable discussion document drawn up by the Ministry of Sport. This document aimed to give the fat, incompetent minister (does the ANC have any other kind of minister, except for the incompetents?) of sport, Makhenkesi Stofile, sweeping powers to interfere in sports team selection and sports administration.

Just like the ANC's transformed sports administrators bungled the Beijing Olympics - South Africa's total medal tally in all Olympic events: a full 1. One.

The minister would, for example, be able pick players. Had this become law, you could bet your bottom dollar that Puke Watson would have been honorary lifelong captain of the Springbok rugby team. Other absurd proposals in the document included control over teams' clothing colours.

Gert "Quisling" Oosthuizen, incompetent ANC sycophant

It however finally dawned on the (white) ANC deputy minister of sport and sometime Quisling to his own people, Gert Oosthuizen, and Stofile that they would be made a laughing stock, had this been put before parliament. They then promptly disavowed all knowledge of the document, something the transformed personnel of the Department of Sport had been labouring over for years, no doubt. Are the ministers really, seriously telling us they didn't know about this?

If they are, they should immediately be fired. How can a minister not know what his department is busy with? By disowning the document, both Stofile and Oosthuizen have admitted that they are incompetent.

For how much longer are we going to tolerate being ruled by these complete morons?

Little sympathy for those who gouge the public

In mid-2008 we were on a few days' leave in Cape Town. Browsing idly through the shops at the V&A Waterfront, my eye caught a replica Springbok rugby jersey. It had a Canterbury logo on it. What really caught my eye was the price of the thing: almost R1000. One thousand rand for a supporter's jersey! Now I'm sorry, but that is a rip-off in anybody's language. The garment is not worth R1000, and I don't care whose logo is on it.

The public know full well how little it must cost to manufacture Springbok jersey knock-offs in China, because pirated copies are sold on every street corner for R100 or less. This means that the "real", "authentic" article, manufactured by Canterbury was being sold at an exorbitant profit - 1000% more than what the street vendors were selling knock-offs for. SARU, the rugby union, is also complicit in this rip-off, because they claim a portion of each garment sold as royalty fees.

Predictably Canterbury yesterday announced they were going into liquidation. Shame. Poor things. Or not.

Somehow I feel as little sympathy for them as I feel for the manufacturers of printer cartridges, whose ink is much, much more expensive than gold on a gram for gram basis. Now I am sorry, but it's INK, for crying out loud. Same applies to the manufacturers of DVD's, who at one stage sold their wares for R300-R400, and were then outraged to discover that pirated copies were being sold for R60 on street corners.

Gouge the public, and you are going to find that somebody, most probably in China, is going to see a business opportunity and will profit by making copies of your wares. They see an opportunity because your company is being too greedy. Of course the printer cartridge manufacturers as well as Canterbury are going to scream "illegal" and "piracy", but to my mind it's also almost as unethical if not illegal to exploit your monopoly and sell your wares at a price too far above its value, deliberately gouging the public for all it's worth.

Good riddance to Canterbury. Hopefully SARU, who also demands a portion of the price of these garments, will have learnt its lesson as well.

What really scares Tokyo Sexwale

A sangoma is what is otherwise known as a witchdoctor. A large proportion of South Africa's population regularly visits sangomas for medical attention (sangomas can allegedly even cure AIDS), but also for "muti". Muti can mean medicine, but can also refer to a magical potion that can make robbers invisible to the police, or keep your wife faithful (no, really.) Muti is often made from herbs, animal parts and even human bodies. People are killed for muti in what is known as muti murders.

Recently, pupils at a school in the Northwest province refused to go to school, because sangomas had planted muti at the school. Pupils only returned to class after a cleansing ceremony had been performed at the school. These very same school pupils are of course South Africa's hope for the future. They are the people who will have to participate in a sophisticated, global economy, and compete with millions of highly educated and intelligent Chinese and Indians in the future.

One could possibly attribute the bizarre happenings at the school mentioned above to the fact that these are school children in a rural district, with superstitious, backward parents.

The same cannot however be said of Tokyo Sexwale. Sexwale is a member of the ANC, the former premier of the Gauteng province and a billionaire "businessman." Note the quotation marks around "businessman"; he is in reality the recipient of billions of rands extorted from legitimate businesses in the scheme of legalized racial theft known as black economic empowerment (BEE.) It is unclear what, if any, business acumen or entrepreneurial qualities Sexwale possesses, but he does have one vital asset: he knows the right people, a sure ticket to wealth in the corrupt system of crony capitalism so prevalent under the ANC regime.

"Businessman" or an adherent of primitive superstition?

Being a billionaire "businessman", a director of several multi-billion dollar companies and former premier, Sexwale is presumably a much more sophisticated person, not so? Surely he doesn't subscribe to primitive superstitions and backward belief systems?

Wrong.

Sexwale is in hot water, after having accused the ANC's political rivals, Cope, of using old women for the purposes of witchcraft. Once again, let me emphasize: this is not a backward rural inhabitant. This is an obscenely rich, presumably sophisticated politician.

Scarier than the credit crisis to Sexwale…

And then the West wonders why Africa will forever remain the dark continent.

Luke Watson should accept that his career in SA rugby is over

Luke Watson, he of wanting to puke on the Springbok emblem fame and insulting people like me - Afrikaners (the African descendants of Dutch, German and French immigrants since 1652), was predictably booed during a match at Newlands against the English club Saracens. Newlands happens to be the home ground of Watson's provincial club side, the Stormers, so Watson was booed on his home turf.

How dim-witted and thick-skinned can a player be, not to mention the game's administrators? Did he really, honestly imagine he could simply walk back onto the field this season as if he had done nothing wrong?

Furthermore, Newlands is hardly the most conservative rugby ground in the country. The Western Cape has traditionally been more liberal than the rest of South Africa. Its crowd is the only one which routinely has a large number of non-white supporters who attend games. This does not apply to the northern provinces of the country.

If Luke Watson gets booed at his home ground, by a relatively liberal crowd of spectators, the mind boggles about the welcome that will await him at Loftus Versfeld, should the Stormers' selection staff be stupid enough to choose the odious Watson for a game there.

Watch the Aussie press go bananas as Puke Watson runs onto the field Down Under and gets booed by South African expats rightly outraged by Watson's hate for their kind. This is 100% guaranteed to cause huge embarrassment to SARU, already known for lurching from crisis to crisis.

There are certain things that you cannot recover from. Accidentally calling your wife by your mistress's name whilst having sex is one of these things. Deliberately insulting an ethnic group who happen to be the majority of supporters of your chosen sport is another. Watson must be either incredibly thick-skinned or incredibly naive to want to continue playing rugby in South Africa.

In an absolutely disgraceful and sickening display of anti-white bias, however, the Western Cape's provincial government has condemned the booing. Let us understand this in context: it's apparently OK for Watson to racially insult Afrikaners, but even the most insignificant incident of so-called racism perpetrated by other whites without the Quisling-like "Struggle" credentials of traitors like Watson, invites a storm of condemnation from what is surely the most racist regime on the planet, the ANC. Its spokesman, Cameron Dugmore, said he was angry. No kidding, Cameron! I'm extremely pissed off even looking at Watson's loathsome face on a rugby pitch.

The only honourable course of action for this third-rate player and embarrassment of an anti-Afrikaner bigot, is to retire from the game to go and face the obscurity he so richly deserves. Dear Luke Puke Watson: please do us all a favour, including yourself, and retire with the few shreds of dignity you have left. Go and become something more suitable to your extremely limited talents. An ANC member of parliament springs to mind, requiring as it does no intelligence, no integrity and at most a measure of anti-white racism.

Why don't expatriates have the vote but criminals do?

The Democratic Alliance is one of a number of interested parties that is about to launch a court challenge revolving around the right of expatriate South Africans to vote.

The South African constitution is clear: all adult citizens enjoy the right to vote. This is not a qualified right. It does not for example say "all adult citizens within the country's borders can vote." It's simply all adult citizens.

This was the basis on which convicted felons who are serving jail time challenged the practice of disallowing them the vote a number of years ago. South Africans abroad cannot vote at present, but those in jail can, as a result.

Funnily enough, the ANC's so-called Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) still refuses to allow expats to vote, subsequent to the above judgement. The IEC therefore still does not follow the constitution to the letter. It discriminates against those who find themselves abroad. Of course, these people include a huge number of white South Africans, who because of their race, cannot find gainful employment in South Africa due to the state racism known as "Affirmative Action" - a system of ethnic cleansing of whites from the workplace.

Clearly the ruling ANC regime sees it in its interest to bar the above people from voting. Isn't it extremely interesting, though, that the ANC clearly wanted jailbirds to vote but not expats? This is almost an admission that it knows full well that its supporter base includes the criminal underclass. Given the predilection of ANC and its members such as Jacob Zuma to enthusiastically involve themselves in crime, this should not suprise anybody.

Confessions of a landless person

In an article in the Business Day's Weekender edition, one Andile Mngxitama (try and pronounce his surname quickly 5x in a row…) a Johannesburg based civil rights activist, launches a tedious Marxist tirade about the so-called racism of farmers and calls for state intervention.

Mr Mngxitama wants the state to forcibly remove white farmers' land, and hand it out to peasants. While reading the article, it struck me that I am also a victim of colonialism. I am a landless person too. My garden is hopelessly too small to plant anything worth my while. If I were to try and survive off crops planted in my garden, I'd probably starve.

However, the same would apply if I were to be given a large piece of land in most of South Africa. I have no knowledge of agriculture. I would not know when to plant, when to harvest, of what sort of crops to plant in the area. I would be lucky to survive, because I do not have agricultural skills.

The above is exactly the problem with Mngxitama's demands. Simply expropriating white farmers' land and handing it to black peasants, resolves nothing. It does not provide them with the necessary skills to farm. It does not provide capital to buy seed. Mngxitama would no doubt argue that the state should provide these, but the reality is this is Africa and the ANC government – by definition an incompetent regime, whose sole skill is corruption and stealing. Black peasant farmers won't receive effective assistance, because the ANC regime is fundamentally incapable of running a kindergarten, let alone a country.

Mngxitama's demands will have only one outcome: it will destroy agriculture. White farms will be expropriated and handed to black peasants without skills or capital. Within 2 years these farms will disintegrate. Their crops will wither, the livestock will be eaten within a month, the buildings will collapse, the equipment will be sold for booze, and the beneficiaries will be no better off than before.

With the destruction of agriculture, rural areas will collapse, millions will stream to the cities and squat in the most dire poverty, starve to death and die of diseases like cholera. Exactly what happened in Zimbabwe, in other words. But Mngxitama, being a Marxist asshole, will no doubt be happy with the outcome. At least the starving hordes won't be exploited by white "racists", and that's what REALLY matters, is it not?

Do the ANC's supporters understand right and wrong?

While the ANC pays lip service to its commitment to fighting corruption, the Party has gone and nominated both Winnie Mandela as well as Tony Yengeni as candidates for member of Parliament.

Winnie Mandela, the so-called "Mother of the Nation" is in reality nothing of the sort. She is in reality a brutal murderess, a piece of criminal scum whose thugs kidnapped and murdered a young black man, Stompie Sepei. Furthermore, she has a conviction for fraud, having defrauded a bank with a dodgy loans scheme.

Tony Yengeni, the other nominee, was sent to prison for illegally receiving a $50,000 discount on a luxury vehicle.

As Helen Zille points out, there is a jarring dissonance between what the ANC says and what it does. You cannot say you're opposed to crime and corruption, but then nominate Yengeni and Mandela, let alone the corrupt polygamist, Jacob Zuma, for president.

What Ms Zille does not say is that the nominations come from the ANC's branches - the rank and file of the Party (deliberate capital P.) People often pretend to be puzzled by South Africa's extreme crime rate, but given the ANC's apparent lack of concern with crime, it's really pretty simple to explain. Seeing that the ANC gets the majority of votes in South Africa, its members' opinions are presumably those of the majority of voters as well.

Clearly the ANC's Party members do not see anything wrong with crime. Their sense of right and wrong therefore differs completely from what you and I, people of the West, would hold to be true. If the rank and file of the ANC see criminals like Yengeni and Mandela as heroes, then clearly their interpretation of what is acceptable differs totally from Westerners' interpretation of right and wrong.

This is quite a frightening realization. South Africa's crime rate becomes easy to explain. The majority of people in South Africa - the ANC's voters - do not see murder, theft and fraud as wrong. The majority of people are therefore tolerant and forgiving of crime, if not criminals themselves.

Cope needs to be careful with whom it associates itself

Rumours have it that the ANC splinter group, the new political party Cope, is about to welcome Saki Macozoma into its midst.

Macozoma is a long-time ANC member and spent time on Robben Island, so his Struggle credentials are not in question. The problem with Macozoma is that he was involved with a major funding scandal, in which R9 million (+-$1 million) was illegally diverted to the ANC's coffers.

Cope is wont to make public utterances about its commitment to fighting corruption. How, then, can it welcome people tainted by scandal like Macozoma into its midst, and be taken seriously? You cannot be slightly pregnant. Similarly, you cannot pay lip service to fighting corruption, but then consort with known miscreants like Macozoma.

Jimmy Manyi's philosophical dilemma

Jimmy Manyi, chairman of an organization that is racist by definition, the Black Management Forum, is extremely upset by the new poitical party, Cope's, views on affirmative action (AA).

What upset Manyi, one of the praise singers of the increasingly Afro-fascist ANC regime, is that Cope dared to suggest that factors other than race needed to be taken into account. For example: why should one of the children of the obscenely rich pigs at the trough such as Tokyo Sexwale, who are systematically plundering the nation's wealth, receive preferential treatment, above for example a white youth whose family is living in poverty?

Cope's suggestions nevertheless outraged Manyi. The question that now arises is: why is he so upset? Does Manyi still believe that Sexwale's children deserve to be the beneficiaries of AA, regardless of their wealth? Whites are less than one-tenth of South Africa's total population. It is a matter of demographic certainty that, given time, the 80% black majority will eventually occupy 80% of all professional and managerial positions.

Or is it?

The unspoken assumption here is that blacks and whites, given equal opportunities, will produce equal outcomes and achieve similar professional heights. Why, then, does Manyi insist on a continuous handicapping system for blacks, the obscene racism known as affirmative action, given the apparent demographic inevitability?

There can be only one explanation: deep in his heart, Manyi has immense feelings of inferiority towards white people. He clearly does not believe that whites and blacks can compete on a level playing field. Does Manyi lie in his bed at night, wondering if he'd still be an executive at Tiger Brands if he were not black? Does Manyi perhaps believe that there is, and dare I suggest this, a genetic handicap that affirmative action has to compensate for, and keep compensating for for ever?

Eish, thees ees Azanian plenning...

Mpumalanga is one of the more backward provinces in South Africa, not least in terms of the intellectual capabilities of its politicians. Its school leavers routinely distinguish themselves by their dismal pass rates. They clearly go straight from failing Grade 12 into political or public service careers, earning Mpumalanga its nickname: "Mamparralanga". A mamparra is as slang term for a moron or an idiot.

This time the Mpumalanga planners (although these 2 words constitute an oxymoron) have really outdone themselves. They have spent R10 million (approximately US$1million) of the taxpayers' money on a jazz festival. In the 2 days that the festival lasted, however, fewer than 3000 people bought tickets, but only 1500 people actually attended the non-event.

This translates to a government subsidy of R3,000 per ticket - in other words, the complete and utter idiots who "planned" (sic) the concert, subsidized the patrons to the tune of US$300 each.

This in a province with dire poverty, AIDS, malaria and other social problems, where this kind of money could have built 30 houses or bought malaria medication for thousands.

Once again the mind boggles at this brilliant example of African and Azanian incompetence.

A commie deputy president for South Africa?

Several commentators have pointed out that the left-wing tail is currently
wagging the much larger ANC dog. The ANC attracts millions of votes in
elections, but the SA Communist Party has fewer than 50,000 members. The
Polokwane conference in December 2007 however amounted to a virtual
left-wing coup d'etat in the ANC, with the left-wing allies of Cosatu and
the SA Communist Party effectively taking control by means of its Manchurian
Candidate, the hopelessly compromised Jacob Zuma, an un-educated, corrupt
puppet with some very big skeletons in his closet.

The conference in question laid the groundwork for the ousting of president
Mbeki, which duly happened in 2008. Mbeki was replaced by a caretaker
president, Kgalema Motlanthe. However, it is by no means certain that
Motlanthe will be retained as deputy president once Jacob Zuma takes over
power in 2009 after the elections, as is widely expected.

There is intense speculation, including in the Sunday Times newspaper, that
another candidate is waiting in the wings. One whose deputy presidency will
be a sop to Zuma's puppet masters, and effectively the true seat of power in
South Africa, the Communist Party. The name of Blade Nzimande, none other
than the Dear Leader and Chairman of South Africa's commies, is rumoured to
be in the hat.

Is this not a truly elevating prospect? A communist deputy president. South
Africa will then formally have joined such illustrious company as North
Korea and Cuba as one of the very few Marxist states left on the planet.

The madness of the criminal ANC regime must be stopped - by force, if
necessary.

According to a Durban legal expert, JP Purshotam, the use of the state's resources such as police in the infamous blue-light convoys is illegal. There is no law in South Africa's constitution governing the use of blue-light convoys. According to Pursotham, all South Africans are entitled to protection, and not only the so-called VIP's.

The reason is simple: the constitution makes no distinction between ordinary citizens and VIP's. This is especially true in the case of the corrupt, criminal polygamist, the odious, un-educated next president of the Azanian republic, one Jacob Zuma. Although this non-entity has a motorcade at times consisting of 33 vehicles, he holds no public office. The lowliest civil servant therefore has more of a claim to public protection than Zuma, seeing that the former is paid using public funds, but not the latter.

If the corrupt polygamist Zuma can demand a convoy protected by police, so can any other citizen, except that it doesn't happen quite that way in an African banana republic, does it?

I therefore propose a new name for these idiotic baboons who appropriate the state's resources to themselves, who abuse our tax money by squandering it on blue light convoys, because they in their 70-IQ little minds consider themselves to be important.

Gwede Mantashe's stunning admission

Sometimes one reads something so bizarre, so strange, so mind-boggling, that you have to re-read it to make sure you've understood correctly.

So it is with Gwede Mantashe's stunning admission in a newspaper interview. In this interview, Mantashe had the following to say:

"If the African National Congress wins the elections this year, the performance of its ministers and other politicians will be evaluated by the ruling party's new policy institute, and incompetent ones will be fired."

This is a stunning admission, isn't it? There are 2 implications: 1) there are incompetent ministers in the current ANC cabinet and 2) it is only when the ANC wins the next election, that we can expect incompetence to be punished.

The implication is clearly that up to now, competence was not a criterium when the ANC regime selected its cabinet. Blind loyalty to the Party (intentional capital P) yes, but competence...Until the next election, it's therefore business as usual - stupidity, corruption, laziness, incompetence - you know, the usual stuff we've come to expect from ANC cadres.

It is unthinkable that voters in a normal democracy would accept such a preposterous statement. A European political party that made such an admission would not only lose the next election with an enormous landslide, but would also lose so badly that it would probably cease to exist.

But this is Africa.

Africa, where voters somehow fail to make the connection between their own right to vote, and political accountability. People get the government they deserve, and nowhere is it more true than in Africa. Any voter who continues to vote for the ANC, deserves to suffer poor service delivery, crime, grime and incompetence.

Gaza and Zimbabwe

South Africa's ANC regime, by means of the loose cannon Gwede Mantashe, has wasted no time in condemning Israels military incursion into Gaza.

The ANC regime is, however, strangely silent about the root cause of the incursion: the firing of rockets aimed to terrorize innocent civilians by Hamas's Muslim extremists. Perhaps we should not be too surprised by this. The ANC is a terrorist organization, whose methods closely resembled Hamas's: bombs in shopping centres and the murder of political opponents by means of the notorious necklacing method (setting alight a gasoline-filled tyre draped around the victim's neck.) Hamas and the ANC are obviously birds of a feather, brothers in terror, as it were.

Israel is thousands of kilometers away from South Africa. The conflict has very little to do with South Africa. There is another conflict zone right across the border from South Africa. In the nineties, 20,000 Matabeles were murdered in another military incursion, that of the 5th Brigade into Matabeleland. The Matabele are blood relatives of South Africa's Zulus - they were a Zulu faction that fled Chaka's bloodthirsty pogroms.

The country is of course Zimbabwe. As you are reading this, people are dying in Zimbabwe, due to the Mugabe regime's callous indifference to the plight of its own people. People are dying of cholera, amongst other causes. People are being detained without trial. People are tortured by the regime's police. More people have died of cholera in Zimbabwe than have died in Gaza up to date.

And the ANC's reaction to the plight of their black brothers a mere few hundred kilometers from Pretoria? Stony silence. Not a word in condemnation. It screams blue murder about a deserved retaliation thousands of kilometers away, but not a word about the plight of its fellow blacks right next door.

Blue light convoys are out of control

Talk Radio 702 reports that there has been yet another incident in which members of a blue light convoy intimidated, shot at and injured a Gauteng motorist. This follows on the heels of several other incidents over the past few years, in which other motorists have been intimidated, injured, forced off the road and even shot at by members of blue light convoys. The actions of the blue light convoys have led to the deaths of several people.

In a recent incident, a brain-dead baboon started firing at a motorist who didn't get out of the way quicky enough in the opinion of the moron in control of the trigger.

Africa is notorious for its Wabenzi; for the convoys of vehicles which accompany insignificant politicians and force lesser mortals from the road. And, let's be honest here: an "insignificant politician" in Africa is a tautology - something that almost goes without saying.

Since the end of apartheid, South African politicians have enthusiastically started to make use of blue light convoys and body guards. That fat, incompetent former teacher, notorious only for her predilection for shopping trips to Dubai at the taxpayer's expense, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, has no fewer than 23 bodyguards. Speculation is rife that some of them are actually diet police, whose task it is to prevent her from stopping at the McDonalds.

Not only national cabinet ministers, but also provincial politicians had decided that they are far too important to be stuck in traffic, that an inability to plan and to stick to a schedule on their behalf, becomes an emergency for everybody else. A particularly egregious example is the monumentally arrogant KZN province's minister of transport, one Bheki Cele, who seems to view public objections to his abuse as power as racist. Well, Bheki, if you behave like an idiot, and it's racist to point it out, then so be it - I'm racist.

One of the major reasons for the use of convoys is an utter inability to plan, coupled with the notorious love of Africa time. Any Westerner who makes an appointment expects punctuality. Not so in Africa. Three hours late is par for the course.

Don't ask why they ANC politicians don't take these realities into account and schedule meetings at realistic times. Don't query whether the politician's aides are unable to do simple math and schedule meetings so that they allow for enough travel time. (Rhetorical question - the answer is a resounding no.) The inability to stick to schedules, the inability to plan, then becomes an emergency on the part of other road users. His Lordship, the Deputy Minister of Little Green Bits That Go Well With Salad, then finds it necessary to sweep all before him, endangering the lives of other road users.

Blue light convoys are out of control, and the trigger-happy baboons who man them belong in jail, rather than armed to the teeth in black suits behind the wheel of powerful vehicles.

Ek het Kameraad Carl Niehaus, professionele liegbek en ANC-segsman, se blog-inskrywing vanoggend met geweldige irritasie gelees, maar komende van wie dit kom, nl iemand wat oa glo een aand deur 20 mans in 'n tronksel verkrag is, maar dan misterieus die volgende dag in 'n hofsaak geen dooie woord daaroor gerep het, en g'n klag daaroor gelê het nie, of enige opsigtelike tekens daarvan getoon tydens sy verhoor nie, moet mens noodwendig sy liegstories met 'n groot sak sout opneem.

Gelukkig het die waarheid 'n manier om dikwels na vore te kom, en kan denkende mense die verskil tussen propaganda en liegstories vir hulself eien. Die volgende bevat regstellings oor enkele leuens wat dikwels oor ons geskiedenis gebesig word.

Mens kry dikwels die indruk dat die "inheemse" swart bevolking van Suider-Afrika een of ander idilliese bestaan gevoer het, totdat die "wrede" blanke koloniseerders die sosiale orde kom "ontwrig" het en die "paradys" kom "versteur" het.

1. Die Europese setlaars - jou en my voorsate - was geensins die eerste of enigste setlaars van Suider-Afrika nie. Anders as Max du Preez se liegstories oor sogenaamde swart beskawings voor blanke kolonisering, was daar niks van die aard nie; nie die geskrewe woord, die wiel, skarniere, of inderdaad enige gevorderde tegnologie in Afrika suid van die Sahara vóór 1652 nie. Enige literatuur aan die Ooskus van Afrika was van Arabiese afkoms; Thabo Mbeki se sogenaamde universiteit, waarop hy so trots is, was volledig van Arabiese herkoms, en vir millennia het swartmense soos die Zoeloes na die see gestaar sonder dat die gedagte by hulle opgekom het om 'n skip te bou.

Kortom - die meeste van die liegstories wat deur narre soos Kameraad Carl en voormalige KP-lede, oa diegene wat deesdae glo ANC-lede is maar destyds verregses was, gebesig word, is net dít; liegstories, hemelbeeste en fantasieë. Dis propaganda en naakte leuens, ewe geloofwaardig as sprokies oor Sinterklaas of die Paashaas. Dis hoogstens ligte vermaak, iets om oor te lag, wat opgeneem hoort te word met inagname van die motiewe van dié wat dit skryf: apologete vir een van die mees misdadige en korrupte regimes op aarde.

The folly of Bantu Education

South Africa's matriculation results were released today. Predictably, the best (read "white") schools did better, but the rest of the schools fared worse than in previous years. The failures can largely be ascribed to the politically driven implementation of a piece of left-wing folly, Outcomes-based Education (OBE). The usual suspects have already been trundled out and blamed for the disastrous results in some schools. "It was apartheid. The legacy of Bantu Education is to blame."

"Bantu" is the collective name for black Africans. It literally means "people." In apartheid South Africa, Bantu Education was the name for the educational system to which black people were subjected, from more or less 1953 onwards.

Everybody obviously "knows" Bantu Education was an "injustice / crime against humanity / evil", don't they? The loony left becomes apoplectic by just thinking about those dastardly whites subjecting those poor people to an inferior educational system, segregated schools and even segregated universities. How could those evil whites perpetrate such a diabolical scheme?

(Isn't the deliberate phrase "segregated universities" interesting? Listen to the left-wing bilge spewing forth from the PC brigade these days, you'd have thought no black could go to university in the old days. The facts and reality are different. Nelson Mandela became a lawyer in apartheid South Africa. He went to university, in other words. He was allowed to practice law in Johannesburg.)

Bantu Education was just plain wrong, wasn't it?

I agree with the last statement. Bantu Education was wrong, but not in the sense that the politically correct brigade perceives it to be.

If somebody wants to maintain Bantu Education was inferior, I am going to ask the obvious question, that the PC brigade is too afraid to ask: inferior compared to what? To the advanced, enlightened educational system to be found in Sub-Saharan Africa before Arabic or European colonizers arrived? You know the same one that brought forth literary giants such as, ahem. Or wait: weren't there those brilliant black scientists, schooled in the idyllic and sophisticated educational system that was in existence in what is now the Transkei or Kwazulu-Natal in, say, 1700? What were their names? Strangely I can't remember right now

Of course I'm being facetious above. In all of recorded history, prior to Arabic or European settlement, there was no tradition of the written word, no science in the Arabic or Western sense of the word, and therefore no notion of anything even approaching, say, Plato's Academy, except for an Islamic (i.e. Arab-inspired) university in Timbuktu, far to the north of South Africa.

All the black tribes, every single one of them, encountered by South Africa's European colonizers, were in a pre-civilized, pre-literate, pre-technological state. There were no schools as Westerners would understand them.

I ask again: is anybody still maintaining Bantu Education was inferior when compared to a complete lack of education?

Yet Bantu Education was wrong. It was lunacy. It was stupid. It was unsustainable. South Africa's whites, the Afrikaners, did an almost insanely stupid thing by even implementing such a system in the first place. By doing so we (I am an Afrikaner) assumed responsibility for the education of millions of denizens of other nations Zulus, Xhosas, Vendas and Tswanas the different black nations that inhabited the Southern African subcontinent.

Consider this for a moment. Whites have never been a majority in South Africa, but our ancestors took it upon ourselves to educate millions of others, who at present outnumber us by at least 10 to 1 in South Africa, and by 150 to 1 in the rest of Africa. It was the equivalent of the white population of, say, the United States, taking it upon themselves to educate everybody in Central and South America. Think of the language barrier. Think of the logistics.

Think of the obvious question: why should the education of millions of South Americans become white Americans' problem? Why would Americans agree to such a thing?

It would be lunacy. And it was. Bantu Education was lunacy. White South Africans ignored the example set by the monumentally callous British colonizers, whose indifference to their colonial subjects in Africa and India was breathtaking. Whites took it upon themselves to educate millions of people from other nations, an endeavour funded by white tax money.

We made other people's and nations' problems, our problem. This was an almost unbelievable act of generosity, although it was sadly misguided. Why could Koreans, whose country was poorer than Zambia in 1960, educate themselves out of poverty within 30 years? What's wrong with Africans if Koreans could do it for and by themselves? The left keeps telling us how all people are supposedly equal. Why then point fingers at whites for trying to educate blacks, by endlessly harping on about the so-called inferiority of Bantu Education?

Sure, Bantu Education had its problems. Compared to the alternative no education at all it was however an astounding though foolhardy piece of generosity on the part of white South Africans.

Time to admit to South Africa's educational failure

South Africa's matriculation (grade 12 or university entrance exams in other countries) are about to be released. This will be the first group of matriculants who wrote matric using the new Outcomes Based Education (OBE) curriculum.

(OBE is a disastrous exercise in political correctness, implemented in great haste by the ANC regime. Like almost all left-wing ideas, it is a complete shambles, although that is not the topic of this column.)

According to Umalusi, the body in charge of supervising matric results, the pass rate is very similar to last year's pass rate, in exams written under the old curriculum.

I personally find the above outcome (pardon the pun) a bit difficult to believe. The entire curriculum has changed. Subjects like mathematics have changed completely. Call me cynical, but something is fishy, should the results be that similar. How is it possible that the pass rate is almost exactly the same, given the comprehensive changes that have occurred? Some Stalinist manipulation has obviously occurred, if you ask me.

Furthermore, South Africa's school leavers fare dismally when compared to their international peers. Although approximately 70% of matriculants "pass" annually (many of them with marks like Julius Malema's - an H symbol in mathematics), they compare very poorly to their international equivalents. South African school leavers and school pupils routinely come last in international tests, especially in mathematics. This points to the fact that, although South African pupils pass matric, they cannot actually read and write properly. They are especially poor at numeracy - adding 10 and 12 together may present a challenge to many school leavers.

Approximately 500,000 "learners" (an abhorrent, left-wing word for students or pupils) "pass" matric every year. It is a fact only that a small proportion of these, probably less than 10%, is of an international standard. They do especially poorly in mathematics. Of the 400,000 black matriculants who pass annually, fewer than 1 in 100 pass mathematics on the higher grade. This is usually ascribed to "apartheid" or "poverty", even though no black pupil currently in school has ever experienced apartheid education, and the fact that there are millions of rich blacks in South Africa. Nobody would ever dare to whisper the dreaded "g-word" - genetics - as a possible explanation.

Those that do not pass mathematics often tend to take subjects like Biblical Studies and History, which are perceived as "easy", but which hardly prepare them for real careers.

I often wonder whether the problem is not that there are too many candidates for matric in South African schools. Candidates who, for whatever reason, are ill-prepared and unsuitable for university entrance, and should not be there in the first place.

Would it not be better to produce 100,000 well-educated, literate and numerate matrics every year, than 480,000 ill-prepared, illiterate and functionally innumerate matrics that graduate with useless certificates?

Of course the above is a pipe dream; it would mean that the ANC regime admits to yet another failure, to be added to its long list of utter incompetence. However, South Africa will keep falling further and further behind due to the complete and abject failure of the ANC's education system.

Mandela is the problem, not the solution, Breyten

An enormous controversy has predictably arisen following Breyten Breytenbach's letter to Nelson Mandela. The letter in question is a rambling, incoherent piece of writing, proving once and for all that Breytenbach has finally lost the plot.

It rambles from a hagiography and ode to Breyten's demi-god, Mandela, interspersed with bitter complaints about crime, but then in almost the same breath expresses sympathy for the perpetrators of violent crime, such as the poor, "thin like praying mantises" (sic) savages of between 9 and 15 years old who stoned to death a girl aged 11, ostensibly because she was HIV+. One wonders why Breytenbach doesn't have the same sympathy for the Skierlik shooter, Johan Nel?

Breytenbach clearly views Mandela as a demi-god, a kind of elderly holy man, who can do no wrong and who, according to Breytenbach, almost single-handedly halted a possible revolution. The former is of course complete hogwash; the monumentally incompetent Mkhonto we Sizwe, the ANC's so-called military wing (primary targets: defenseless civilians) couldn't defeat a girls' soccer team, let alone liberate one square inch of South African territory when faced with the then mightiest army on the continent.

Breytenbach idolizes Mandela as a victim of circumstances and of nefarious businessmen who are exploiting his name, as well as corrupt, criminal politicians who, according to Breytenbach, are destroying Mandela's legacy.

What seems to be totally lost on the seemingly increasingly befuddled Breytenbach is that Mandela, far from being a Gandhi-like figure who eschewed violence, was in fact a violent revolutionary who planned a Communist-inspired revolution in South Africa. This is in fact why he was jailed on Robben Island. Far from being Buddha, Mandela continued preaching violence even after his release from prison. Far from being a saint, Breytenbach's demi-god, Mandela, is one of those directly and personally responsible for the increasing crime, mayhem and violence in South Africa. Far from being out of control and disloyal to Mandela, the ANC regime, one of the most corrupt kleptocracies on earth, is a monster in whose creation Mandela played a pivotal role.

Tito Mboweni - pig at the trough and hypocrite

In its quarterly bulletin the South African Reserve Bank has called on wage and salary earners to moderate their wage demands, seeing that high demands for wages could have an inflationary effect. Mention is made of wage increase demands of between 12 and 15%

This is extremely rich (pardon the pun), coming from whom it does: the former trade unionist and current governor of the Reserve Bank, Comrade Tito Mboweni. Comrade Tito earlier on this year received a whopping 28% salary adjustment, making him one of the most highly paid central bank governors in the world, in spite of South Africa being nowhere near the largest economy on earth. The hypocrisy in the Reserve Bank's bulletin, in telling Joe the plumber to moderate his demand for a wage increase, is therefore nothing short of breathtaking.

Perhaps we should not be surprised at Comrade Tito's pig-like snuffling at the trough. The ANC, of which he is a member, is after all nothing more than a criminal bunch of former terrorists bent on plundering the nation's wealth.

Why are most black-on-white murders not seen as racist attacks?

The Beeld newspaper, an Afrikaans-language newspaper in South Africa, reports that five black youths are part of a gang that murdered an 81-year old white person in the suburb of Primrose in Gauteng. The elderly white man was killed for drug money, according to the police.

A few years ago, 4 white school boys known as the Waterkloof 4, assaulted a black vagrant in a park in Pretoria. He died as a result. It is unclear whether the thugs intended to kill the man, because according to them he was still alive when they left the scene. The liberal media however went to town on this incident, wasting no time whatsoever in screaming that the murder was a racist murder (as opposed to common thuggery.)

I am prepared to bet a large amount of money, however, that the media will not call the 5 black youngsters who murdered a white senior citizen the "Primrose 5." The murder will not be called a racist murder, but will instead be ascribed to ordinary crime. The press will go out of its way not to report on the race of the black perpetrators. If anything, they will start gushing sympathy for these murderous animals, and ascribe their behaviour to apartheid or colonialism.

There is something very, very wrong here, people. If a white kills a black, it is almost per definition a racist murder. If a gang of black thugs murders a white person, it is suddenly reduced to "ordinary crime", swept under the carpet and dismissed. This cannot be right. If crime across racist boundaries is automatically seen as racism, then it cannot only work against whites.

If crimes of whites against blacks are racist, then blacks murdering whites is violent racism too.

Predictable, Kgalema

President Kgalema Motlanthe, after only a few months in office, yesterday fired suspended prosecutions chief Vusi Pikoli. It didn't take all that long for Motlanthe to show his true colours as a mere stooge of more powerful interests within the ANC, who will think nothing of abandoning principle in favour of narrow party or personal interests.

Those interests are nothing more than those of a corrupt polygamist (at the last count he had 5 wives and God knows how many other concubines and children) called Jacob Zuma, an idiot with a 4th grade education who thinks that showering after porking an HIV+ person will prevent AIDS.

The real reason behind firing Pikoli was not that he "wasn't sensitive to national security", the ridiculous confabulation that the puppet Motlanthe gave. The real reason was that Pikoli was too independently-minded, and would be sure to prosecute the likes of Zuma and his cronies who form part of the fundamentally corrupt gang of criminal scum known as the ANC.

Zuma is as guilty as sin of gross corruption and theft. A corrupt Indian businessman, Schabir Shaik, has been jailed for 15 years for bribing Zuma. Zuma, that shining example of moral rectitude, will now be rewarded with the presidency in 2009 for his troubles.

With so-called leaders like the odious individual Zuma, is it any wonder that Africa will forever be the continent of losers?

Democracy won't solve Zimbabwe's ills

The end for Robert Mugabe seems to be in sight. There are increasing signs that Zimbabwe is on the brink of collapse. Let's assume the process happens peacefully, and the MDC becomes the official government in Zimbabwe. Democracy has been restored.

Will this in and of itself mean that Zimbabwe's problems have been solved?

I doubt that very much. Let us rewind back to the 1960's and 1970's. Black Rhodesians did not have the vote. However, they weren't starving either. Quite the contrary. Their country was known as the bread basket of Africa. Then came the 1980's and the heady days of Zimbabwe's uhuru. And the 1990's, and the 2000's. The wheels came off. Badly. People are dying of hunger. Millions have fled the country. During all this time, black Zimbabweans had the vote and a black government. Democracy was in place, in other words.

Zimbabweans are starving today, a generation after liberation. They have the vote, but you can't eat democracy. They were "liberated" to experience hunger, a collapsing economy and cholera. Why are they hungry? Because most white expertise, especially in agriculture, was chased out of the country in an orgy of ethnic cleansing. Farms were invaded by so-called "war veterans", many of them far too young to have ever been in the war.

The problem in Zimbabwe is not a lack of democracy or the inability to vote. The problem is the absence of whites.

The Nigerian Scourge

Kameeldrift is an area of smallholdings and therefore a soft target, similar to South Africa's farms, on which more than 2000 white farmers have been murdered to date. Multiple robberies and murders have taken place in recent months in Kameeldrift. It is being reported that a syndicate has been arrested in a luxury townhouse complex. They are suspected of being involved in the Kameeldrift murders and robberies.

Although South African papers will as a rule not report on the race of criminals, unless they are white, in which case the left-wing press will waste no time in loudly screaming "racism", the Beeld newspaper hints that the suspects are Nigerians. Nigerian currency was found in the suspects' possession. Nigeria is notorious for the corrupt nature of its society and its huge number of criminals. So much so, that a common advance-fee fraud is known by its Nigerian penal code designation, the so-called 419 scam.

The suburb of Hillbrow in Johannesburg, formerly a cosmopolitan area similar to Tribeca or Soho in Manhattan, is these days one of the most dangerous places on the planet. It is a hotbed of vice including drugs and prostitution. It is a well-known fact that Hillbrow's drug trade is controlled by the Nigerians which infest and contaminate the area.

Why are Nigerians being allowed into South Africa at all, given their enormously high rates of participation in crime? It would not be an exaggeration to say that a huge dent would be made in South Africa's crime problem if a) Nigerians were declared persona non grata, and b) all Nigerians rounded up and deported back to their hell-hole of a country.

Why must the innocent citizens of South Africa be exposed to the scourge of Nigerians?

Accountability: Africa's biggest problem

The civil rights group Afriforum is about to sue the South African government over crime. According to Afriforum, the government has failed to come up with any cogent strategy to combat the scourge of crime (no kidding - which African government has ever shown itself able to strategize?) Twenty thousand people are murdered annually but the fat cat politicians of the world's biggest kleptocracy, the terminally corrupt ANC regime, seem more concerned with their blue light convoys and plundering the economy.

During a radio interview, Kallie Kriel, the head of Afriforum, made a very interesting observation. In spite of the rampant crime in the country, not one minister has resigned. The corrupt Chief of Police, Jackie Selebi, had to be fired and would never have considered leaving office voluntarily.

Contrast this with India, where top government officials have resigned after the Mumbai attacks. Such a step would be unthinkable for any African government minister, regardless of his or her criminality or gross incompetence.

The epitome of competence and accountability. Or not.

It is called accountability. Taking responsibility. Something which is totally foreign to African leaders, and seemingly also a concept the idiot voters who continue voting for useless, corrupt, incompetent leaders, seem unable to grasp.

People deserve the government they get. As long as Africans are unable or unwilling to embrace accountability, it will remain the most wretched continent on earth.

The city Johannesburg's - South Africa's largest city - municipal accounts have been chaotic for a number of years now. Ratepayers would receive either no account at all for month, or a sudden, unexpected account for R200,000, which they'd have to pay immediately.

Calling the call centre to resolve billing issues, is reputedly an exercise in frustration. You will be put on hold until 2015, put through to the wrong people or cut off because the operator is going on lunch after holding on for 3 hours.

All the above happened for a well-known reason: the ANC's Afro-fascist commitment to the purging all whites from all levels of government and business, and replacing them with blacks. Competence, ability and qualifications mostly don't matter. This black-on-white racism is known by the euphemism "transformation".

The word sounds very positive, but in reality transformation is akin to the process whereby the Nazis transformed German society to one free of Jews. The parallels are disturbing: whites, especially Afrikaners, are a minority in South Africa. Just like the Nazis, a hostile regime, the former band of terrorists known as the ANC, is actively purging whites from South African society.

For many years before the current kleptocracy took over the billing department worked pretty well, admittedly with occasional glitches, but since the pernicious effects of transformation took hold, it's been downhill all the way. Today's billing is chaotic, and this is a direct result of transformation. This is repeated across the country, in all the transformed municipalities. No-one is surprised: the municipal manager, the most senior appointment in a city council, is often a political appointee, with no financial knowledge whatsoever. Incredibly, fewer than 1 in 5 city councilmen actually understand the relationship between rates and taxes and their city's budget.

In the latest bizarre twist, VAT (Value Added or Sales tax in some countries) is being calculated at wildly fluctuating rates on ratepayers' electricity accounts. The transformed billing department has seemingly lost the ability to multiply an amount by 1.14 to correctly calculate the 14% VAT due on any amount. Instead, VAT is being calculated on electricity bills at anything between 15 and 50%.

Is that DIVIDE by 1.14?

The anti-apartheid activist, Allan Boesak, was jailed for fraud after embezzling Danish donor funds meant for the poor, to fund his lavish lifestyle. He referred to his behaviour as "Struggle Accounting." Are we now seeing the first signs of "Struggle Billing?"

Yet another compelling argument in favour of church unity

The former "white" churches in the Dutch Reformed family, such as the NGK (Dutch Reformed), Gereformeerde Kerk and Hervormde Kerk are under huge pressure from the left to merge with the formerly "coloured" church, also known as the "VGK" (Uniting Reformed Church.)

The head of the VGK, until very recently, was the convicted swindler and adulterer, Rev Allan Boesak, a prime example of New South African criminality. Boesak has been at the forefront of pushing a loathsome piece of anti-white political propaganda, the Confession of Belhar, down the throat of white churchgoers. This document has met with deserved resistance from white quarters.

This article provides yet another compelling reason for the churches to merge. A minister in the VGK (presumably properly ordained), one Billy Rayners, stabbed one of his elders in the head in South Africa's Western Cape province.

Are we to assume that other disagreements in the church, once it merges with the others, for example about gay rights, will be settled in a similar fashion? I can see how a synod will disintegrate into a gunfight about whether gay marriages should be allowed, truly an elevating prospect.

Cheeky Watson wins the Kurt Gödel prize for 2008

Kurt Gödel is widely seen as the most significant logician of the 20th century.

In the proud tradition of Gödel, we have our own master logician, one Cheeky Watson. Cheeky Watson, a veteran anti-apartheid campaigner and a legend in his own mind, has just been appointed the president of the dismal Eastern Province Rugby Union. The EPRU has never won the Currie Cup and looks highly unlikely to do so in future. Could this be due to its successful transformation programme?

The Eastern Cape, in addition to generally sucking at rugby, is also the home of the powerful Xhosa faction of the ANC, such as Thabo Mbeki and Nelson Mandela, so it is no surprise that Watson would win the presidency there. In addition to being a logician of note as well as a loose forward who would have done any under 11-C team proud, Watson is also a prime exponent of the art of ass-kissing when it comes to the ANC.

In his opening address, and in a masterful display of his genius at the art of logic, Watson called for more blacks in top positions in SA Rugby. As many of the replies to this article have pointed out, the fact that Watson himself is a pale male, seems to have been totally lost on this wonderful logician. Lesser mortals like us would have expected that the logical thing for Watson to have done would be to step down in favour of a black president, but clearly Watson's advanced thinking is on a different level and he clearly has his reasons for not doing so. Either that, or perhaps he doesn't own a mirror and doesn't know he's a mhlungu.

I therefore have no hesitation in awarding the Kurt Gödel prize (honoris causa) to Cheeky Watson, South African rugby's greatest logician.

Time for Toughlove in Africa?

Toughlove is an approach for the parents of troubled teenagers who are often struggling with a drug problem. Instead of taking a softly-softly approach, Toughlove focuses on discipline and parents' rights, instead of bowing to the demands of unruly children.

After World War 2, Germany was in ruins. Cities like Stuttgart were practically flattened. In some city blocks, only one or two houses remained standing. Millions of German men had died in the war. The Allies instituted a massive aid programme, called the Marshall Plan, to revive the German and European economy. Within 30 years Germany's was again the largest economy in Europe. If you drive through Stuttgart today, you can hardly believe that it was in ruins 65 years ago.

Since 1960, Africa has swallowed up no fewer than the equivalent of 6 Marshall Plans' worth of foreign aid, with no tangible results. Africa today, 50 or more years after the end of colonialism, is a sorry tale of civil wars, poverty, disease and corruption. As Dr Anthony Turton, the suspended CSIR scientist, has pointed out, it takes approximately 10 years for the colonial infrastructure to start crumbling due to neglect, criminal behaviour and incompetence. One only needs to think about Eskom and the coming water crisis to realize that he has a point. From that point it is all downhill to dire poverty.

The West's solution is limited to massive infusions of cash, which promptly gets stolen by a corrupt kleptocracy, as well as vague demands for Western-style democracy. Surely it must be obvious by now that democracy simply does not work in Africa. The reasons for this are not clear, and may include cultural differences. Those who lose elections often simply refuse to leave office - Kenia and Zimbabwe are obvious recent examples. However, democracy in a skills and integrity vacuum which is a feature of African society, is meaningless and a mere Western delusion.

Mass starvation is only a few months away in Zimbabwe, due to the above problems. As the comments to this article have pointed out, drastic action - Toughlove - is called for. That is unless the West abandons Africa as a perennial lost cause and allows the Chinese to re-colonize the continent.

By Toughlove I mean forceful measures that are coupled to foreign aid. If Africa's leaders continue to behave like unruly children, they should be treated as such. Measures can include, for example, steps to ensure that another Mugabe can never take over the reins of power in Zimbabwe, and to remove him from power if he refuses to leave of his own accord.

This could include military intervention as an option. It will take one cruise missile strike to remove Mugabe and his henchmen from power on a permanent basis. Perhaps such an intervention will make other miscreant leaders, like Kenia's, also think twice. Interestingly, this was a real threat issued against the previous government in South Africa. An American-funded airport was built in Botswana, for example, which was a clear threat of military intervention against the then white ruling party.

The above may seem draconian, but measured against the lives of millions of Zimbabweans, it's a no-brainer.

Many economies have, in the past few years, started to recover from the deep recession caused by the credit crunch which started in 2007 and hit its peak in 2008, ten years ago.

As expected, the Chinese and Indians were among the first economies to recover. The US today is clearly not the hyperpower it used to be. The high rates of taxation under President Obama, used to fund his ambitious but unaffordable healthcare plans, has proven to be a hindrance to the US's growth.

While many have started to recover, to some countries, 2008 was the beginning of a precipituous decline. South Africa is one of them. It started when investors started fleeing emerging economies and the South African currency, the rand, started dropping dramatically.

From a high of R5,50 to the dollar in the mid-2000's, the rand stands today at R100 to the dollar.

South Africa was not only hit by the credit crunch. Its banks, ironically, were in fairly good shape at the time. The double whammy was a combination of the credit crunch and the disastrous policies the ANC under President Zuma implemented. After the split in the ANC in 2008, the left, in the guise of the Communist Party and Cosatu, grew increasingly influential.

Major industries such as steel, Sasol and many mines were nationalized under pressure from the communists. Two mainstays of the economy, gold and platinum mining, were in decline already, and platinum mining suffered under the slump in vehicle sales caused by the worldwide recession. The nationalization of key industries caused a sharp drop in productivity and investor confidence, a flight of capital, increased emigration of skilled individuals, a crash in the currency and inflation approaching 50%.

The 2010 Soccer World Cup, widely expected to have brought a much-needed stimulus, instead turned into a damp squib due to the worldwide recession. Far fewer Europeans could afford to fly south than were anticipated. The event was also marred by at least 50 murders of soccer fans. The vast investment in white elephant stadia to this day continues to haunt the very few remaining taxpayers.

Further exacerbating South Africa's woes was the fast-tracking of the land reform policies. By 2008 it was already clear that land reform was a dismal failure. Blacks without agricultural skills were forcibly placed on former white farms. Within 2 years, these farms died - often literally, in the case of livestock. The Zuma government however sped up the process, leading to a complete collapse in agriculture.

Millions of rural and urban dwellers went into a state of permanent semi-starvation. From being a nett exporter of food a few decades before, South Africa turned into a typical African begging-bowl country, dependent on food aid for its people to survive. The collapse in the currency made importing food much more expensive and unaffordable to the ordinary man on the street.

In short, a country that was once the richest and most developed in Africa, has turned into yet another African basket case.

Your correspondent will leave the last word to a very old black man, who grew up under the apartheid regime: "Come back, PW! At least we had food back then..."

As we have come to expect, any incompetent ANC politician or AA-appointee, when caught with his hand in the cookie jar, will immediately cry racism. Tito Mboweni, the politically-appointed governor of South Africa's Reserve Bank, and clearly an AA appointee who is totally out of his depth, is no exception.

Although Mboweni is a corpulent individual who refuses to be photographed due to his excessive perspiration, "pig at the trough" refers not to his build, but to his naked greed and gravy train riding. South Africa is nowhere near the fifth largest economy on the planet, but nevertheless Mboweni's salary ranks among the top 5 among central bankers worldwide.

The official policy is to keep inflation between 3-6%, but Mboweni awards himself a 25% increase in 2008.

At a Reserve Bank shareholder meeting yesterday, shareholders tried to raise the above issues. In the proud tradition of incompetent affirmative action appointees, Mboweni refused to even discuss the issues raised, and immediately accused his critics of racism.

No, Mr Mboweni. They are not racists. They are merely concerned individuals who are entitled to raise their legitimate concerns. It is you who are incompetent and it is you, not them, who is a greedy, racist pig at the trough.

Jimmy Manyi: spokesperson for the fat cats

Jimmy Manyi is once again "disappointed" in the so-called lack of progress in employment equity (EE). According to his latest report, blacks in top management increased by only 3.9% last year. However, the number of blacks in professional management positions declined dramatically by 14.9%.

It is very interesting that the number of blacks in professional management positions declined by almost 15%. No reasons are supplied in the report quoted above, but it would be interesting to speculate why. Are black professionals dying of AIDS at a much greater rate than was previously suspected, for example? Are they also following the white brain drain and fleeing for greener pastures in the UK and Perth?

Jimmy Manyi is of course complaining with a full belly and a huge personal bank balance. He is a senior executive in Tiger Brands, a listed company. Tiger Brands is the same company that was involved in the bread price fixing scandal a while ago. What exactly qualifies him for his exalted position, apart from a propensity to complain and whine, is not too clear. One should therefore take his tantrums with a large pinch of salt.

As Solidarity's Dirk Hermann pointed out, much energy and hot air is expended complaining about the lack of blacks in top management positions. Top management however constitutes only 0.06% of the workforce. There is relatively little noise about the remaining 99.94% of the labour force. Hermann also points out that the number of whites in top positions has declined by a staggering 20% since 2003.

Manyi's focus on top management in a way reveals his true motives. He is quite simply not interested in the problems of the black working class. If he were, he would surely make equally as much noise about the dreadful state of basic education in South Africa. Regardless of Manyi's verbal diarrhoea and tired cries of racism which are utterly devoid of any credibility, the problem is not discrimination on the part of white companies, but rather the fact that many blacks are simply unemployable.

The real issue in South Africa is that the unemployed are simply not equipped for the challenges of a modern workplace, and they are especially ill-equipped to compete with billions of well-educated Chinese and Indians. The root cause can be traced back to woefully inadequate education in childhood, due to the ANC regime's failure to provide decent schooling. No black pupil currently attending school was ever subject to Bantu education, yet the quality of school leavers keeps declining. South Africa spends more than any other developing country on education as a proportion of its Gross National Product. Can the lack of success in education still be attributed to apartheid?

Manyi spends little energy bemoaning the poor state of education, however. Clearly Manyi has very little desire to address the root cause of unemployment. His true constituency is rather the parasitic class of the elite, the 0.06%, who expect a 6-digit salary in return for their mere presence. Do not expect these members of royalty to work, but do expect to have to pay them a huge salary. Expect to see them living in opulent mansions and expect to see them driving in the emergency lane of the highway in their German sedans costing more than R1.5 million.

Robert Mugabe won't let an affirmative-action doctor operate on him but chooses to fly to Europe to receive medical treatment. Naledi Pandor sends her children to private schools with mostly white teachers. They look for excellence when it affects them personally, but Manyi expects employers to pay a fortune for employees who are somewhat less than excellent.

Most, if not all, employers realize that to appoint this kind of employee is nothing more than a kind of tax, as it were. They do not add value, but it is part of the risks and costs of doing business in South Africa. This acts as a disincentive to do business in South Africa, and makes the country less competitive internationally. Continued complaints by the likes of Manyi can and will only have one effect: it will discourage employers to hire, thereby exacerbating unemployment.

No wonder employers like Nicole Katz simply refuse to hire the Jimmy Manyi's of the world.

Mike Sutcliffe, idiot extraordinaire

However, true to his Marxist, totalitarian ideology, and like so many incompetents, Suttcliffe is above criticism in his own little mind. Dare to criticize him, and he is apparently prone to childish temper tantrums and outbursts. How professional can you get?

Incompetent Commie asshole with bad dress sense

The Stalinist ANC city council, enthusiastically supported by the sycophantic Sutcliffe, has decided to rename hundreds of Durban's streets. Amongst those honoured are such luminaries as Andrew Zondo, the simian scum who murdered innocent civilians in the Amanzimtoti bombing. Ché Guevara, a Marxist mass murderer, likewise has a street named after him.

While Durban's roads are degenerating to potholes joined by small pieces of tar, the council is spending millions on renaming streets in honour of terrorists, criminals and other sub-human scum. All of this is happening in the face of vehement opposition from for example the IFP and DA. A huge number of objections - 28000 - have been received.

Sutcliffe, true Stalinist asshole that he is, is unfazed by this. During an SABC radio interview, his recommendation is that those objecting to the name changes "will have to get used to it" (sic.)

Fortunately the citizens of Durban have had enough of this totalitarianism. Some of the new street signs have been defaced already. Well done to those who are responsible. Expressing your displeasure in this way is not a crime - it is justified resistance against an oppressive regime. The only reason why idiots like Sutcliffe are able to impose their will on us, is because we allow them to.

Hulle oplossing vir hulle wiskundige probleme? Kom ons brand ons handboeke (ja, reg gelees - brand die boeke.) Dis 2 maande voor die eindeksamen. Back to the future on agriculture

Measured even by the subterranean standards of the intellectual vacuum represented by the ANC regime, Lulu Xingwana represents a special case. This so-called cabinet minister has to qualify as either one of the most dim-witted specimens of simian life ever to blight the planet with her presence, or one of the most recalcitrant and deliberately obstructionist Stalinist ideologues in history.

Ms Xingwana has occupied the post of minister of agriculture since 2006. In all this time, she has been seemingly oblivious to the fact that the disastrous programme of Zimbabwe-like land redistribution has been systematically destroying the country's agriculture. Or was she perhaps for reasons of anti-white racism and Afro-fascist ideology deliberate in her attempts to destroy agriculture? Either way, either her incompetence or ideological obstinacy has been spectacularly successful in destroying South Africa's capacity to feed itself.

What sane farmer would want to invest in an industry which is constantly under threat? Who wants to build up a viable farm if there is a very real possibility that it will be nationalized and given to peasant farmers, who are sure to ruin it within at most 24 months?

In a typical display of snail-like mental processes, something we have come to expect from the dim-witted ANC regime, it has finally dawned upon the honourable minister that the country actually needs farmers. Read this article which was published in the Business Day. Well done, Ms Xingwana! It only took you, what, 2 - 3 years to come to this realization.

The Ministerial Advisory Council for Agriculture and Land Affairs has been mooted since 2001, but was only launched yesterday. Yet another prime example of the efficiency of the ANC regime - it took a mere 7 years for the transformed public service and regime to establish the council, but at least the public servants are of the right skin colour and that's what REALLY matters, isn't it? Will we wait another decade or two before it actually starts to do anything?

Whereas South Africa was a nett exporter of food in the past, it has turned into an importer. Wait - it's coming to me - yes, it has to be the fault of apartheid. Of course. (Except the reverse is the case, is it not? Under the previous government we could feed ourselves...)The Business Day article blames external factors such as the exchange rate for this, but fails to squarely place the blame where it really resides: the utter incompetence and / or extreme ideologically driven arrogance of the criminal ANC regime.

There is one and only one solution to the looming agricultural crisis in South Africa. That is to immediately halt and indeed reverse the failed land reform programme. Subsistence farming by peasants, which lies at the heart of the land reform programme, is nothing but a romantic dream. In reality it is sure to destroy the country's capacity to feed itself.

What to do when you make an accident in your government vehicle

The following actually happened.

Government Department X, somewhere in South Africa, has a number of employees who have to drive government vehicles in the course of their official duties.

Of course, this being the Azanian banana republic, government vehicles are seen as private property, to be utilized as the "owner" (aka the employee) sees fit. Its official purpose is of tertiary importance. Vehicles are therefore used to ferry kids to school. As an informal taxi. As a hauler of Black Label quarts, which are sold out of the back of the official vehicle. Call it a shebeen on wheels. On some weekends they haul concrete. In a vehicle that is not a bakkie or a truck.

The drivers are almost all under- or unqualified. Most of their licenses have been fraudulently obtained. They are often pissed and mostly reckless. Vehicles are routinely revved to levels that would blow up a F1 engine. They end up as wrecks in former homelands, having been used to transport eighteen people and their luggage for a weekend, this in vehicles intended for 2 passengers. They are parked for hours outside local whorehouses and watering holes, instead of working.

Eventually the few remaining non-affirmative appointees at the employer grow heartily sick of wasting taxpayers' money in this way. They put out a tender and install a vehicle tracking system, similar to Netstar, Tracker or Matrix's products. This records and transmits illegal usage, over-revving, harsh braking and moving the vehicle out of officially designated areas. The idiots driving the vehicles eventually wise up and stop their worst abuses, because suddenly the supervisors are mysteriously able to see when the vehicles go to Qwa-Qwa for the weekend, or stand parked outside Mama Ningi's shebeen.

One fine day, Mr Government Employee and his mate decide to play Schumacher. Pissed out of their skulls, they do 140 km/h in a 60 zone. With the inevitable result. They crash their government vehicle into a private vehicle, killing the other vehicle's passengers.

Now they're screwed, and the horrible realization slowly dawns on them. Their vehicle's black box has recorded their transgression. Their guilt will be easily proved. Hau! Eish! What now? After racking their brains, they come up with a truly Azanian solution to their dilemma:

Nothing for it but to pour petrol on the vehicle and set the evidence alight.

Two problems with the above solution.

1. The movement and engine parameters are transmitted to the base station in real time, so it's already in the server's database many kilometers away.

2. The fire destroys the vehicle, but not the EEPROM in the black box. This is recovered, with the evidence intact.

There is a huge campaign from those on the left of the political spectrum, including Cosatu, the ANCYL and the SACP, to support Zuma at all costs. They are threatening to bring the country to a standstill. Shop owners in Pietermaritzburg where Zuma is to be tried, are already complaining about the disruption caused by thousands of locusts descending on their town.

There are obviously problematic aspects around the whole, sorry saga, such as the moronic utterances by Julius Malema, who is surely a miracle human, having survived for years after being born without a brain. The judiciary is being undermined and is under real threat by a party which is increasingly out of control. The above issues have however been discussed at length in the media.

What is getting rather less attention is the question why are they so fanatic in supporting Zuma? Why risk international condemnation, increased emigration, instability and anarchy in support of one man? A man, it must be said, who is intellectually way below average (if not retarded), who should keep quiet on economic matters, who is of suspect moral stature (if not a career criminal), with a Grade 4 education and has more than 9 wives, an unknown number of concubines and common-law wives and God knows how many legitimate and illegitimate children. George Bush is routinely mocked for being unable to pronounce "nuclear", yet he went to Yale and achieved a master's degree. Where did Zuma go? Did he pass the old Standard 3?

Or is the above perhaps the very thing that appeals to the communists - the fact that somebody without real opinions of his own or the capacity to make good judgments would be easily manipulated and influenced, unlike the coldly intellectual Thabo Mbeki? Is Zuma furthermore perhaps the ultimate New South African man and therefore a role model to many - a brain-dead criminal whose genitals override his mental processes on a regular basis?

Let's say they succeed in pressuring the judiciary into submission, and Zuma does become president. Jeremy Cronin of the SACP assures us that Zuma will become president and not go to jail. What kind of policy changes do they expect from a President Zuma, and specifically what does the SACP expect from Zuma?

One suspects that there is a perception in South Africa's paleo-Marxist (those idiots for whom the Berlin wall never fell) circles that there will be a marked shift to the left. There is a chilling trend these days to speak about the revolution, something that was mostly absent in Mandela's and Mbeki's day. Unspecified enemies of the revolution are apparently everywhere. These must be quote eliminated unquote.

A big shift to the left has frightening implications. Expect wholesale expropriation and nationalization. Expect more wastage of resources on social grants. Expect a destruction of private enterprise.

Are South Africans staring down the barrel of a second phase of a socialist revolution, whereby the rampant left wing intends to turn South Africa into another Cuba or Venezuela?

African democracy: a pointless extravagance

South Africa's ANC-dominated parliament is about to rubber-stamp legislation that will disband the Scorpions, an elite crime-fighting unit. The Scorpions are one of the few functional organs of the failing South African state.

Their sin, for which they will now be banished to eternal damnation? Well, they were too effective in exposing the fundamentally corrupt nature of what is still a criminal / terrorist organization masquerading as a political party, the ANC. The Scorpions for example exposed the shady dealings of the criminally incompetent so-called Chief of Police, Jackie Selebi. Selebi was not so much Chief of Police as a consiglieri to the South African version of the Mob.

The regime is constitutionally compelled to call for public participation when it wants to pass laws like this one. Opposition parties were predictably upset about the disbandment of the Scorpions, and went to great lengths to gather feedback and comments. Not only opposition parties, but a majority of the population was opposed to the disbandment, according to opinion polls. These objections were duly presented to the committee tasked with reviewing the proposed legislation. However, without much ado, the committee announced that the Scorpions would be disbanded, regardless of the opinion of the public, because, it said, it was the will of the ANC.

There you have it. The Party knows better than you and me. Your opinion does not matter to the Party. It has decided, yes, amen, and so it shall be.

What was the point of public participation, and what, then, is the real function of parliament?

It is clearly nothing but an organ of the Party, a body whose fat-cat (in all senses of the word) members are there to a) enrich themselves and b) rubber-stamp decisions already made by the Stalinist Central Party Committee. Like their counterparts in other African "democracies" (the latter two words being the ultimate oxymoron), the members of parliament earn huge salaries, but contribute little or nothing in the way of debate, public liaison or in any other field for that matter.

This being Africa, there is little or no danger that the ruling regime will be deposed by idiot voters who will continue to vote for a so-called liberation movement, even at their own cost (see previous posts on this topic.)

Does it make sense then to spend R300 000 000 every year on salaries for members of parliament, an amount which excludes their lavish functions, travel expenses and other perks? Why have expensive elections which are nothing but utterly pointless racial censuses, in which most whites will vote for the DA and most blacks for the ANC, 100% guaranteed?

Perhaps Kenya has showed us the way. After a dispute about voting results in the previous election, one of the world's poorer countries came up with a novel solution. It created a bloated cabinet with president, a prime minister, two deputy prime ministers, 40 ministers and 50 assistant ministers. Each of these will obviously have their own contingent of security guards, limousines and the usual perks that go with their exalted rank - gilded toilets, weekly shopping trips to Paris, that kind of thing.

Perhaps it would make more sense for South Africa to do something similar. Seeing that the so-called democracy is a joke and that real debate does not exist inside parliament, let’s disband parliament, get rid of pointless elections, and select 100 or so token members of the cabinet, who don’t really have to do much except travel overseas, attend parties and accumulate fatty tissue.

South Africa's ANC government: a modern-day cargo cult

Many people in South Africa seem to doubt that the ANC will ever relinquish its rule, seeming to agree with Jacob Zuma that: “The ANC will rule until Jesus returns”.

If this were indeed the case, sinners had better start repenting in a great hurry, because the end is nigh, and the Second Coming is upon us.The fatal verb in Zuma’s statement the word “rule”.

Nobody could accuse the ANC of ruling South Africa, even as you are reading this. That privilege possibly belongs to the rampant criminals or the Brett Kebbles of the world, but not to the ANC. To understand this, one needs to understand the true nature of the ANC.

It is not that the ANC doesn’t have the capacity to rule (although that too is a fact), but also that it has no will to rule in the Western sense of the word. It furthermore doesn’t have to rule effectively in terms of for example delivering services, given that African voters can be relied upon to return former liberation movements to political office in election after election, even if this is to their direct, personal detriment, as is the case in Zimbabwe.

What the ANC really is, is a modern day cargo cult. During World War 2, the natives of New Guinea created bizarre cults (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cargo_cult) that were of the opinion that their ancestors would bring them “cargo” – Western goods such as radios and motor vehicles – if only they performed the correct rituals. To this end, the cargo cultists would build airplanes out of straw, make bamboo headsets and perform military-like rituals on landing strips. Cargo cultists would enact mock marches, light signal fires, wear ersatz military uniforms, all in the hope that their ancestors would bring them Western consumer goods. All this proved strangely ineffective...

Similarly, the ANC goes through the motions of Western democracy, but only as some kind of ritualistic charade. They sit in Parliament, and have mock debates about the decisions already made by the core elite of the Party (note the deliberate use of a capital “P”), and rubberstamp these decisions. They pretend to listen to the populace at Imbizos. They hold imaginary consultations with Afrikaners like me, ostensibly to listen to our concerns about name changes, but this is all a charade, and the direct analogy of the rituals enacted by New Guinea’s cargo cults. None of the rituals really mean anything, and serve only to obfuscate the ANC’s real reason for existing: Western goods, Maybachs, Armani suits and money. In short: cargo.

The real reason behind the ANC’s mock participation in the so-called democracy is really to get their hands on cargo. Politics to the ANC is not about service to the public or even to the Marxist ideology to which they pay lip service. It is not even, surprisingly, about ruling the country. No, it is rather seen as a way of getting temporary control over state resources, of having the wherewithal to obtain cargo via the apparatus of the state. They aren’t really interested in actually using these resources in any meaningful way either: the army is weak, the Vaal River is full of municipal sewage, Bedfordview sometimes has no electricity, the police ineffective, but this doesn’t matter, you see, as long as the Treasury is still pulling in taxpayers’ contributions.

Fully half of the sitting ANC members in Parliament have been implicated in the Travelgate scandal, including (and with immense irony) the Minister of Law and Order himself! Forty percent of all MPs have external business interests. So great is the demand for cargo that the ANC’s branch membership often doubles just before elections. Emergency services recently had to be called to Kimberley due to a scuffle involving the mayor, apparently caused by a dispute about a city tender. This has happened all over South Africa, including in Vryburg, a town in the Northwest province.

What this means for whites is that, with or without our intervention, South Africa is headed for exactly the same fate that Zimbabwe and almost all other black, African countries will share. It probably won’t even require a coup d’etat for the ANC to lose all control. Its fanatical pursuit of cargo will make this happen in short order and without outside assistance.

The fat cats will long since have retired to their villas in Cannes, possibly sipping martinis, while the whites in South Africa try to figure out how to pick up the pieces left behind by the ANC, South Africa’s very own cargo cult.

Ons as Suid-Afrikaners ly dikwels onder die illusie dat ons op 'n manier uitsonderlik is, of op spesiale behandeling geregtig is. Daardie gevoel was veral sterk kort ná 1994, toe almal met sterretjies in hulle oë hoog opgegee het oor die sogenaamde wonderwerk van die reënboognasie.

Vandag raak dit toenemend duidelik dat die wonderwerk niks van die aard was nie. Die land is een van die mees gewelddadiges op aarde. Eskom het aangetoon dat Afrika se kenmerkende disintegrasie ook in SA gaan plaasvind. Daar is geen politieke toerekeningsvatbaarheid nie, presies nes in die res van Afrika. Die wonderwerk was nie die kapitulasie by Codesa nie, maar eerder dat ons so naïef kon wees om ons te verbeel dat SA nie bloot nóg 'n tipiese Afrikaland sou word nie.

Diegene wat as die verlossers van die massas aangesien is, het heel voorspelbaar geblyk 'n blote versameling korrupte kleptokrate te wees, wat slegs daarop uit is om hulself te verryk. Hoe kon ons so dom wou wees om in 1992 ja te stem, net sodat ons uitgelewer kon word aan 'n bende terreursaaiers en misdadigers? Wat het ons gedink gaan gebeur?

Nietemin probeer mense hulself steeds (of is dit al hoe meer) oortuig dat Zimbabwe homself nie in Suid-Afrika kan herhaal nie. Hier het ons byvoorbeeld weer die verbete poging om onsself te oortuig dat Suid-Afrika ánders is. Ek is bevrees ek deel nie heeltemal in hierdie oortuiging nie. Die opskrif van my inskrywing verwys na die Amerikaanse stad Houston.

As die meeste mense aan groot Amerikaanse stede dink, sal New York of Los Angeles by hulle opkom, maar nie noodwendig Houston nie. Houston is 'n groot stad, geen twyfel nie, maar hy is nie bo-aan mense se denke oor Amerikaanse stede nie. Nietemin is die metropolitaanse gebied van Houston se bruto binnelandse produk groter as die hele Suid-Afrika s'n.

So ook is Wal-Mart, Amerika se grootste winkelgroep, se omset veel groter as Suid-Afrika se ganse BBP. Soos een ou dit 'n tyd terug pikant aan my gestel het, Suid-Afrika is in internasionale terme 'n drol wat in 'n pispot onder 'n bed dryf in een van die huis se slaapkamers - onbenullig. Om ons te verbeel dat 'n gewelddadige rewolusie, 'n Zimbabwiese situasie of selfs 'n rasse-oorlog in Suid-Afrika onmoontlik is, is dus totale wensdenkery. Daar is reeds skrikwekkende voorbodes.

Die minagting wat die ANC tans vir die oppergesag van die regbank toon met die Jacob Zuma-aangeleentheid, is een voorbeeld. Die toenemende anti-blanke, Marxistiese retoriek gebesig deur die ANCYL is nog een. In hierdie uitlating is die verwysing na die DA wat elimineer moet word, uiteraard 'n kwalik-bedekte dreigement teen blankes as geheel.

Rewolusies en burgeroorloë vind plaas in ryker en belangriker lande as Suid-Afrika. Kyk wat het in 1989 met die Sowjet-Unie gebeur. 'n Ysingwekkende gedagte is ook dat die buiteland nie sal ingryp totdat dit te laat is nie. Vier miljoen is dood in Rwanda en Burundi in 1994 voordat die buiteland iets begin doen het.Die ding wat my die meeste bekommer, is of diegene soos wat nog nie geëmigreer het nie, soos ek, nie 'n groot fout begaan het, en dit te lank uitgestel het nie.

Ek begin toenemend dink ons is potpaddas, wat gewag het tot die water te warm geraak het voordat ons lewe gekry het.

This translates to a government subsidy of R3,000 per ticket - in other words, the complete and utter idiots who "planned" (sic) the concert, subsidized the patrons to the tune of US$300 each.

This in a province with dire poverty, AIDS, malaria and other social problems, where this kind of money could have built 30 houses or bought malaria medication for thousands.

Once again the mind boggles at this brilliant example of African and Azanian incompetence.

Georgia Guedes starts off her column You say 'potato', I say 'Tshwane' with the following statement: “Pretoria is a confounding place to me.” Quite. Judging by the rest of her puerile piece of far-left propaganda which would have made Goebbels proud, it is painfully obvious that many things confound Ms Guedes, especially South African history, and possibly facts in general.

Ms Guedes does her best (which, to be frank, is nowhere near good enough) to characterize Andries Pretorius, the hero of Blood River, as a mass murderer. In a pathetic attempt at sarcasm, she suggests that we keep all names “that celebrate the smearing of the blood of the original settlers of our country.” Let’s look at the facts of the battle of Blood River, as opposed to Ms Guedes’s propagandistic distortions masquerading as so-called journalism.

The Zulus who attacked the laager of wagons were not innocent victims of a massacre. On the contrary: although Guedes strangely (not to mention deliberately) neglects to mention this, they were most definitely hostile, heavily armed and outnumbered their opponents by a factor of at least ten and possibly twenty to one. Less than 500 Boers faced a force of ten to twenty thousand Zulus. Furthermore, one of the causes of the battle was the treacherous murder by a Zulu chief, Dingane, of another Voortrekker, Piet Retief. Perhaps Guedes wasn’t paying attention the day this particular piece of history was taught in primary school, but Retief and his entourage were lured into a trap, relieved of their firearms, and murdered in cold blood. The same fate would have awaited Pretorius's people, had they not defended themselves.

Like the fourth-rate tabloid journalist she apparently is, Guedes quotes Sarel Cilliers, presumably in some kind of feeble attempt to add some sensationalism to her column: “we left the Kafirs lying on the ground as thick almost as pumpkins upon the field that has borne a plentiful crop”. Her problem seems to be the use of the word “Kafir”. Once again Guedes’s utter ignorance of the historical context is embarrassingly apparent. The word “Kafir” (from the Arabic for “infidel”) was not a perjorative term at the time of the battle and was commonly used by the British authorities, amongst others. Parts of the Eastern Cape were known as Kaffraria, for example. Even the Nobel-prize winning novelist, J.M. Coetzee, refers in his novel Disgrace to the Eastern Cape as “old Kaffraria”.

Guedes is all in favour of the current regime eliminating Pretoria with a stroke of its bureaucratic pen. What is once again lost on her, is that the very same ANC regime she so admires, those who want to change Pretoria’s name, are themselves a fine collection of murderers, terrorists and cowards. They are the complete opposites of Andries Pretorius and his brave Voortrekkers. The ANC is simply the former terrorist rabble that has now turned to committing ethnic cleansing by the wholesale elimination of Afrikaner names from public life.

If Guedes really wants examples of the cowardly murder of innocent civilians, perhaps for a future column, I suggest she does some reading on the “brave” acts of the ANC regime, for example the Magoo’s Bar bombing. Its completely incompetent perpetrator – he bombed the wrong target - was rewarded with a job as chief of police, only to crash his official vehicle in a state of extreme inebriation and then threatening to murder fellow officials if they didn’t participate in his coverup. A prime example of the type of hero Guedes apparently worships, in other words. Perhaps Guedes would also do well to interview Mr Dirk van Eck, whose wife and two children, aged 2 and 8, died in yet another “heroic” act of the ANC, a landmine attack in 1985.

To extreme leftwing propagandists like Guedes, however, Robert McBride and the planters of the landmine are themselves victims and incapable of wrongdoing, by dint of the fact that they are black. In her strange and twisted little world, five hundred Boers defending themselves against twenty thousand opponents are somehow transformed into murderers.

Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by this. The haters of Afrikaners like Guedes and her ilk have never been comfortable with accuracy and the facts.
